Senior Staff Quality Engineer, CDMA Networks 2005 - 2009

Software Release Coordinator that controlled the activity required to

introduce new software code for metric tool enhancements and new features

for the Common Metrics and Tools Group. Quality Engineer responsibility

for creating and reporting availability metrics that evaluated the

performance of Cellular Infrastructure Products.

. Participated in early Supplier Involvement by developing the Quality Plan

(Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Regulatory Compliance Testing,

Accelerated Life Testing, Design Verification Testing, Gauge R & R), for

a third party wireless designed subscriber Dongle for WiMAX for a New

Product Introduction.

. Led the development of the WiMAX Datamart and the completion of the

required metrics / reports including the auto generation of Executive

Summary Reports saving over 1000 labor hours annually.

. Designed the Availability Webpage that includes 5 Nines Availability

Reporting, and a user defined analysis option to allow for drilldown of

outage data required for identifying systemic product issues across many

customers and global markets.

. Developed 5 - Nines Monthly Availability Metrics that provides product

with Alltel, Sprint, and Verizon.

. Led and successfully passed yearly TL9000 audit for System Outage /

System Outage Network Elements (SO / SONE) metric by Motorola Corporate

Networks Enterprise Division to remain TL9000 certified.

Third Party Supplier Quality Engineer/ Senior Quality Engineer, CDMA

Networks 1999 - 2005

Responsible for Leading a cross-functional team which included Systems

Engineering, Program Management, Product Management and Market Team

representatives; to create and deploy the first End to End Integrated 5

Nines Availability Process across the Networks and Enterprise Business

for CDMA Cellular Infrastructure. Responsible for gathering field return

data, creating Paretos, and establishing quality improvement goals for Top

. Six Sigma Green Belt Certification / Projects - Received Green Belt

Certification in Dec '03 after completion of 4 projects that led to

savings of greater than $200K. Each project led to process and quality

improvement in hardware design in the Automatic Insertion Factory.

Quality suppliers by bringing visibility to our supplier's performance in

the form of a Supplier Scorecard, which reduced field returns by 40%.

Component Engineer / Supplier Quality, CDMA Networks 1996 - 1999

Responsible for hardware component evaluation to qualify piece parts for

production use. Qualification process involved new print review,

reliability testing, and supplier functional data to support and evaluate

part performance. Responsible for supplier quality and performed numerous

capability supplier site visits to evaluate manufacturing processes,

quality systems, and capability mapping.

. Led Total Customer Satisfaction (TCS) Team that advanced to the CIG Pan

America TCS.

. Semi-finals. The team saved Motorola $1.75M annually by reducing material

costs.

. Directed Supplier Due Diligence Assessments with various printed circuit

board suppliers to determine supplier core competencies which reduced

field returns by 40%.

. Developed a business award program that used quality data at the piece

part level to determine supplier core competencies and awarded future

business based on prior performance. This approach reduced the Parts Per

Million (PPM) rejects from approximately 2500 to 500 PPM.

. Created a quality specification document, jointly with vendors, for sheet

metal / chromate coated products that reduced returns by 20%.

Technical Operations Engineer, Process Engineering 1992 - 1996

Responsible for capacity analysis, assembly line layouts, work load

balancing, product / process improvement projects, and purchase of capital

equipment in a cellular electronics facility.

. Eliminated the need for costly stainless steel hardware to fasten

connectors to PCB's allowing product to flow on assembly line vs. a

manual offline process saving over $300K annually.

. Led capacity analysis studies to determine appropriate capital equipment

expenditure for the Automatic Insertion Factory, which reduced budgeted

requirements by $550K.

. Co-Authored with the Product Improvement Team that presented the "Solder

Mask n-Line System" at the Phoenix Advanced Manufacturing Technology

(AMT) Symposium in 1992, which automated the insertion of electrical

components on printed circuit boards.
