Operated by Battelle, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is a

Department of Energy scientific laboratory that employs 4,650 staff with a

$1 billion annual budget. Hired to develop and implement a strategic HR

function by leading a team of 35 HR professionals through a transition of

tactical HR support to strategic business partnership with lab business

units. Also, lead the talent acquisition team of twelve employees.

CARDINAL HEALTH, Dublin, OH 1/1999 - 8/2008

Vice President, Human Resources, Business Partner (2004 - 2008)

Cardinal Health is a $91 billion global healthcare company with 40,000

employees ranked number 19 in the Fortune 500. Supported the Nuclear

Pharmacy Services and Branded Pharmaceuticals/Third Party Logistics (3PL)

business units. These two organizations represent an employee base of

4,000 with revenues in excess of $2.0 billion and 250 locations across the

United States, including three major distribution centers.

The Nuclear Pharmacy Services (NPS) is the market leader in providing

radiopharmaceuticals and Positron Emission Tomography (PET), specialty

pharmacy services and products used in the diagnosis, treatment and

management of heart disease, cancer and other disorders. The Branded

Pharmaceuticals/3PL is an intermediary between manufacturers and providers.

The company purchases, warehouses and distributes branded and generic drugs

and blood plasma products and offers additional services including logistic

solutions, storing and tracking supplies, and managing returns and recalls

on products.

Responsible for providing strategic HR programs and services as follows:

< Implemented communication and work/life programs in the NPS business,

resulting in the highest Voice of Employee Engagement and Management

Effectiveness scores across Cardinal Health.

< Led a multi-functional team of 20 managers in the development of a

Career Roadmap (wage structure and career development) process for

Pharmaceutical and Clinical positions across the organization

culminating in 3,000 positions being properly defined, leveled and

placed in job families with defined career paths for managers to utilize

in discussions with employees.

< Key member of team that implemented Lean Six Sigma (LSS) into our

business units. Completed a comprehensive LSS training and sponsored

two major projects while participating as a subject matter expert on

several Kaizen events, with one program realizing annualized savings of

$500,000.

< Directed due diligence efforts and integrated three acquisitions over a

12-month period resulting in the retention of the majority of the

acquired workforce including key technical and management positions.

< In response to employee retention issues, redesigned management

incentive program changing measurements from year-end budget results to

year over year operating income achievements, which provided for

increased incumbent participation from 35% to 72%.

SYNCOR INTERNATIONAL CORP, Woodland Hills, CA

Executive Director, Human Resources (1999 - 2003)

Syncor International Corporation purchased by Cardinal Health January 2003

Lead 13-person human resources function for Syncor International

Corporation with revenues of $800

million and 4,300 employees including 13 international operations.

Partnered with executives by translating strategic business and financial

plans into key HR objectives including: staffing and retention, change

management, talent development, organizational effectiveness, and employee

diversity.

< Transformed HR from transactional to a strategically aligned, solution

oriented organization providing greater management and employee

visibility, service and accountability.

< Implemented a succession-plan for Sales and Pharmacy Operations that

resulted in internal employees filling fifteen key sales management and

pharmacy operations positions over a two-year period.

< Managed Mexico City, Mexico pharmacy and sales operations during a six-

and customers and closed all operations on time and on budget with no

major financial variances or legal issues.
