PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Work Experience
Siva Corrosion Services, Inc Corrosion Technologist
2009.4-2010.1
> Design the corrosion protection system for steel rebar in concrete
bridges(ECE+CP), and evaluate the corrosion of steel reinforced
concrete bridges, including spall/delamination surveys, depth of
rebar, continuity test, half cell potential survey, and corrosion
rate measurement.
Engineering Internship
Portland Water Bureau
2008.6-2009.4
> Assisting in corrosion control for water pipelines, mostly
focusing on engineering mechanics of pipe design and impressed
current cathodic protection (CP) design.
Meishan Train Factory, Sichuan, China
Summer, 2005
> Assisting in designing welding parameters for carbon dioxide
welding and Submerged Arc welding
Chengdu Welding Institute, Sichuan, China
Summer, 2004
> Helping evaluate welding joints using ANSYS, and analysis
microstructure with OM, SEM
Research Assistant at Portland State University
2007.9-2008.12
> Metallurgy project: With TEM, analyzing the microstructure of Gamma
Prime Precipitate in IN939; Using EDS for point and line analysis
of elements distribution in both matrix and precipitate.
> Modeling project: With FEA software(FLUX 2D/3D, ABAQUS, SolidWorks)
to predict the residual stress distribution, hardness and other
properties of gears after induction surface heat treatment, which
can be used to optimize induction coil design and optimize the
process conditions.
Research Assistant at Portland State University
2006.9-2007.8
> Metallurgy project: Applying different heat treatment to IN939,
using SEM to analyze the microstructure and testing the micro-
hardness, to attain appropriate heat treatment parameters.
> Materials modeling project: Modeling of Phase Transformations in
Nickel Based Alloys to choose a proper composition and thermal
processing method through computer simulation and comparing the
simulation results with experiments results.
> Weld-ability of superalloy IN939: welding repair of IN939 using
TIG to get a better understanding of the weld-ability of IN939.
Meanwhile, employing FEA (ABAQUS) to simulate the welding repair
of IN939.
Graduation Design at Southwest Jiaotong University, China
2006.2-2006.7
Project of "Detecting system of imported AMS60 welding machine" with
following accomplishment:
> The electro- circuit between the detecting system and PLC or DAQ
board was designed.
> High-speed (as high as 100 KHz) data acquisition software using
VB6.0 was developed in the sake of getting welding parameters,
including welding voltage, current, distance and oil pressure.
