Senior Vice President, Operations, Information Systems 2008-2009

Senior executive reporting to the President with responsibility for the strategic and day-to-day operations of this mid-sized

chemical manufacturer. Directly responsible for manufacturing, logistics, information technology, engineering, environmental,

health and safety, maintenance and labor relations functions. Managed the strategic planning process inclusive of capital

budgeting from inception through implementation. Championed a balanced business strategy that supported growth through

new product development while simultaneously reducing legacy costs in the businesses.

Created the business case for and subsequently championed the implementation of automating production of polymer

chemistries that reduced standard costs on the single largest family of products produced by 15% and increased

capacity by 100%.

Launched China production facility.

Championed and led product development and production efforts to launch new VOC compliant technologies.

Led diverse corporate steering committee and directed implementation of Infor’s ERP suite and Customer Relationship

Vice President, Operations, Information Systems 2001-2007

Held responsibility for production, engineering, quality, information technology, environmental health and safety and labor

relations. Championed and led the organization’s shift to focus on quantified metrics using corporate and divisional Balanced

Scorecards. Implemented customer-oriented revenue generating new product introductions combined with service

improvements that ultimately increased revenue while reducing operating expenses. Initiatives that supported the introduction of

new hot-melt and wood adhesive technologies led to a 10%+ increase in sales and also employed LEAN-Sigma techniques to

improve product quality and delivery performance by over 50%.

Assumed leadership of several underperforming functions and using a combination of Lean techniques and motivational

tools subsequently led a turnaround that restored profitability, eliminated debt and dramatically improved cash flow.

Sponsored and supported the introduction of new wood adhesive for retail markets that increased sales by nearly

$1,000,000.

Championed and implemented continuous improvement strategies including Lean-Sigma techniques that ultimately

helped permanently reduce P&L manufacturing and logistics costs by more than 20% annually.

Vice President Information Systems 1997-2001

Responsible for the strategic and tactical operations of the company’s information technology function. Championed and led a

cross functional team consisting of Marketing, Corporate Communications, Sales and Technology executives in the design and

launch of the initial corporate electronic commerce and Internet marketing programs. Championed and led a sales force

automation project that leveraged the existing technology infrastructure and ultimately led to the development of the company’s

first customer relationship management systems. Trained and coached the sales force in best practices, determining customer

sales history, credit history and profitability.

Directed the second tier ERP implementation using several cross functional, diverse project teams to successfully implement

Sales Forecasting, Advanced Planning and Scheduling, Laboratory and Hyperion data warehousing. Managed all aspects of

the technology portfolio including voice, internet, computer room operations, network and application development to industry

leading performance at below average investment.

Championed and led cross functional marketing and technology teams to develop and implement an industry leading

internet based e-commerce site.

Championed and led the implementation of real time customer performance tracking and sales data warehouse.

Initiated and served as chairperson for the company’s corporate technology steering committee.

Sustained service levels on all mission critical systems at 99%+.

Championed and led the company’s Y2K conversion effort.

Director, Information Systems 1993-1997

Assumed leadership of an underachieving technology function that had been charged with implementing the company’s first

ERP system. Quickly assessed the existing support teams and technology infrastructure and defined strategic and tactical plans

inclusive of capital and operating budgets that would be necessary to support the ERP implementation. Subsequently

constructed the information system department and technology infrastructure that put the ERP project back on track and led this

to a successful implementation.

Built information systems virtually from the ground up to support implementing the company’s inaugural ERP

implementation on-time and under budget.

Reduced telecommunication costs by 90% while improving reliability from 50% to over 99%.

Moved performance on key performance indicators to operationally excellent levels as compared to industry

benchmarks.

Improved customer service levels, while reducing administrative costs by 20% through use of electronic transactions.

aggressive schedule for this joint venture start-up.

WHIRPLOOL CORPORATION, 1989 – 1991. Improved Sales and Operational Planning and Customer Delivery performance by

implementing structured Sales Forecasting and Distribution Resource Planning across the enterprise.

MONROE AUTOMOTIVE, 1986 – 1989. Project Manager for the successful implementation of ERP and Customer

Relationship Management for this Tier 1 automotive supplier.

INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT, 1984 – 1986. Implemented a purchasing system that improved supplier performance, increased

inventory turns and reduced administrative support costs at a major semi-conductor manufacturer.
