**** - ******* ***** ***********, * am president of this family owned
company. We do business as O'Brian's Irish Pub in Troy, Ohio.
My entire family is involved in the operation. We purchased the
assets of a previous bar, including the building, renovated the
facility and opened in June of 2004.
1999 - 2002 Enterprise Works, I was an independent counselor for this
organization. They had contracts with the Ohio Department of
Rehabilitation Services and the Veteran's Administration. I
evaluated business concepts, business plans, and assisted their
clients in writing business plans and then raising the necessary
funding if the plan merited it. I also taught a seminar on
entrepreneurship. Additionally I had a personal service
contract with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation Services
evaluating financial statements of businesses they were going to
fund for the purpose of hiring the department's clients.
1995 - 2003 NCIC CapitalFund, NCIC is a $20 million not for profit venture
fund that targets investments in early stage technology based
companies for economic development. During my tenure there we
made fifty-five investments. I personally managed an active
portfolio of these companies. In addition to making investments
we also advised and mentored entrepreneurs while assessing their
business plans. Another portion of my responsibilities included
developing and implementing a marketing plan. This plan called
for the development of personal relationships with other
potential investors as well as those organizations or
individuals that were most likely to refer potential
opportunities to us. This approach was successful.
1987 - 1995 I was with County Corp for seven and a half years. I ran its
economic development department as Vice President of Economic
Development. When I started with the company it had a loan
portfolio of 43 loans totaling $4.9 million. During the seven
years that I directed the department we generated over 160 loans
totaling over $30 million. During that period County Corp
expanded its service territory from one to nine counties.
County Corp offered affordable financing to small businesses
through a number of lending vehicles including the SBA 504
Program and the Regional 166 Loan Program. We also offered an
Equity Investment Financing Program, Capital Plus, the Export-
Import Bank Loan Guarantee Program, a direct loan fund, and the
Child Care Mini Loan Program.
1985 - 1987 I operated as a sole proprietor (Hammond and Associates). I
was an independent sales representative for several clients
including IC Systems, a professional collection company
headquartered in Minnesota. During my first year representing
the company I was awarded the "Top Prospect" award and brought
to the corporate headquarters to meet the chairman and receive
the honor.
1982 - 1985 I was president of the Williams County Economic Development
Corporation (WENCO). This was a county wide economic
development operation in Northwest Ohio. I established a data
base, marketing plan, promotional materials, and a fund raising
plan. I coordinated the efforts of both the private and public
sectors as well as established an automatic response system that
not only responded to leads, but tracked and followed up with
them as well. One of our major successes was the acquisition
(by a private sector partnership) of a 250,000 sq. ft. vacant
manufacturing facility and converting it into a multiple tenant
building allowing for the creation of hundreds of jobs.
1979 - 1982 I was appointed by the mayor as the City of Tiffin, Ohio's
first Director of Development. This was a highly visible
position as spokesperson for the city in all development
efforts. I was the city's grant writer and special project
supervisor in addition to running all the community's economic
development efforts. I established a community profile,
response system, and marketing plan. I supervised the downtown
streetscape project, the West Market Street road widening
project, I created the "Uptown Tiffin" Campaign, initiated and
structured the financing for the Ritz Theatre purchase (as a key
anchor for the redevelopment of the central business district).
I also managed the city and county's Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) programs.
1976 - 1977 Upon graduation I began working within the Development Division
of Heidelberg College, primarily in the admissions arena. I
developed relationships with high school counselors and
administrators throughout portions of Ohio, New Jersey, New
York, Indiana, and New Hampshire. I was responsible for making
direct contact with potential students, responding to inquiries,
planning special events, and attending college recruiting
conferences. I also served as liaison between the department and
a number of the standing faculty and administration committees.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Heidelberg College.
I majored in Communication and Theatre Arts. My educational
training and in-college practical experience provided me with an
excellent background in public speaking, performance,
presentation, radio, film, television, writing, logic, debate,
and interpersonal interaction. While in college I received
numerous awards, on a national level, in public speaking and was
recognized in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges.
I was also an active member in Alpha Psi Omega (national
dramatic fraternity) and Vice President of Pi Kappa Delta
(national public speaking fraternity).
