Senior Systems Engineer - Contract
Contracted for two month period to perform onsite consulting as well as
help desk duties at various automotive supplier sites; specifically for the
upgrade of the Ford C3P NG20 suite of software.
> Performed the Ford C3P NG20 upgrade on SUN Solaris 10, IBM AIX 5.3,
and HP HP-UX 11i UNIX workstations. The C3P suite of software allows
the supplier's of Ford Motor Company access to the Ford component
database.
> Performed several Chrysler SVS V5R18 upgrades on IBM AIX 5.3 and HP HP-
UX 11i workstations. Chrysler SVS is a suite of software which allows
automotive suppliers access to the Chrysler component database.
> Performed several Catia V5R18 installs on Windows XP with the Chrysler
environment. The importance of this environment is to ensure models
created by the supplier will meet specific Chrysler compatibility
requirement
> Created a Korn shell script to install Ford PRI's for the ANX C4SS
helpdesk. A PRI (Post Release Issue) is a released fix for issues
within the C3P software. With the help of the script, ANX helpdesk
member could remotely install the PRI's on several client systems at
one time. The script eliminated all human error and allowed for more
efficient use of time.
> Performed Solaris 8 to Solaris 10 (11/06 level) upgrades as well as
AIX upgrades to version 5.3 (ML05). These were the Ford certified
operating system levels required to run the Ford C3P NG suite of
software.
> Installed and configured several LUM (License Use Management) and
FLEXlm license servers to allow Ford C3P NG20 to run properly on the
client's network.

> North American lead for a global project which includes upgrading Pro-E
2001 to Wildfire 3 and the upgrade and data migration of Pro-I v3.3 to
v3.4.
> Excelled in creating Korn shell scripts to automate many TRW processes
for Steering & Suspension group. One such script notified a remote user
upon login if a user was already using Ford C3PNG application on the
system.
The script would then instruct the user to exit the system; then
send an e-
mail to notify the administrator.
> Installed Linux Fedora 9 to run Nagios monitoring software. Began
monitoring Windows XP Pro systems as well as systems running AIX 5.3

on CAD application specifications. Installed patches, as well as

Engineering 2007 for customer demonstration. From these
implementations, documentation was created as an instructional tool
for new members of the PLM group. Implementations were performed on

used for a teleconference training session with other members of the

> Installed Linux Red Hat 9 on laptop for CAD/PLM application

to install Ford C3PNG (and many other CAD applications) from a network
mount point than from installing from CD.
> Installed two SUN Solaris 9 systems with unique partitions based on
specifications from application vendor. The application required all
partitions to be mirrored, including the root partition.

Originally hired by Magna Intier as team infrastructure lead to implement
Siemens Teamcenter Engineering application. After acquisition by Magna
International, role became more Design Engineer/Engineering support as well
as Data Coordination support.
> Team member of successful implementation of Siemens Teamcenter
Engineering 9.1.2.7, with successful integrations of Catia V4
(Chrysler specification), Catia V5 (Ford and Chrysler specifications),
NX3 (GM specification).
> Teamcenter Engineering infrastructure included 450 users on UNIX and
Windows platforms. The server infrastructure consisted of 16 SUN V240,
and 4 SUN V440 servers. Also, implemented and configured were 3 SUN
StorEdge 3511 FC Array's with a total of 9 TB of storage space. All
server hardware was re-installed, patched, and performance tuned per
application specifications. Client side systems include SUN Blade 2000
and 2500 workstations running Solaris 8, HP 8000 workstations running
HP-UX 11i, and IBM P275 workstations running AIX 5.3. PC workstations
and laptops were installed with Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro
operating systems.
> For over a three year period, the Teamcenter Engineering Production
backbone of servers was down for a total of only 12 hours. The twelve
hours consisted of two hard disc failures and two negligently
scheduled battery backup down times on consecutive weekends.
> Created backup and disaster recovery solution for servers, including
all production and development Oracle servers, Teamcenter
Engineering servers, and Volume servers.
> Performed installation and configuration of Oracle 9i for the
Teamcenter development implementations.
> Configured TSTK (Translation Service Toolkit), ETS (Enterprise
Translation Server), and DAK Adapter along with Apache and Tomcat web
application servers for the Teamcenter Engineering enterprise. The
enterprise consisted of a production instance and seven development
instances of which each had the implementation completed.
> Installed and configured VisView Pro and VisMockUp 2005 in conjunction
with DAK Adapter server to run Visualization products within
Teamcenter Engineering.
> Created SUN Solaris Jumpstart server as well as HP HP-UX Ignite
server.
> Customized UNIX Korn shell scripts to automate SUN Solaris flar image
creation on all Teamcenter Engineering servers.
> Assisted and mentored several other system administrators with various
CAD applications administration such as, but not limited to, Catia V4,

> Implemented process improvements to increase the efficiency of the
data coordinators. This was achieved by creating custom Korn shell
scripts to automate many of the tasked required to translate and
transport data. One such script batched Catia V4 IGES translations and
another simply exported Catia V4 models, and then transported the
package file to a Magna FTP site.
> Configured JBoss for ProductBase PDM application. ProductBase was used
to help migrate data into the Teamcenter Engineering database.
> Created UNIX Korn shell script to help convert CSV file for importing
Catia V5 assemblies into FORD C3PNG Teamcenter Engineering.
