Project List for John David Oldja
1- Pinellas County Job Corps- St Petersburg, Fl (Approx $35 million)
New Construction for the United States Department of Labor of nine mixed
use buildings totaling approximately 175,000 square feet on a 16 acre
site with full installation of utilities and underground infrastructure.
Building uses were two 30,000 sf dormitories where the attendees will
live, a kitchen (culinary arts) with over 400 food service items
installed and coordinated with MEP trades, a 9000 sf gymnasium with
adjacent recreation hall and locker room, dental, administrative,
security and maintenance buildings, as well as an automotive training
building equipped with mechanical car exhaust systems, weld stations, and
a rotary car lift. The site required full utility and infrastructure
installations along with the removal of unforeseen deleterious materials
and the construction of three retention ponds. Construction included
extensive excavating and land grading, stem wall and foundation work,
crane placement of structural steel, structural cmu walls, crane
placement of hollow core precast, the construction of two semi truck
loading docks with dock levelers for unloading, structural form and pour
columns, standing seam metal roofing over barrel truss system,
membrane/built up roofing systems, face brick, curtain wall and
storefront window systems, full MEP installations, pre-action fire
suppression systems, ansul system, many more specialty items and interior
finishes.
2- Hillsborough County Courthouse renovations- Tampa, Fl (Approx $22
million) Construction consisted of two shifts working 24 hours a day on
three adjacent buildings- the main courthouse, the north tower and the
Edgecombe building. Nearly 250,000 sf of space was renovated, including
exterior improvements to the existing structure. Construction included
minor structural adjustments, a membrane roofing system, harvesting of
travertine and terra cotta for future reuse, interior metal stud
partition walls, installation of hundreds of hollow metal window frames
and doors, all new floor coverings including raised access flooring for
data/telecommunication lines, tile, carpet, vct, elevator renovations,
millwork installation in new courtrooms, acoustical ceilings, fire
suppression systems, new mechanical systems including VAVs and fan coil
units, chilled water lines, plumbing upgrades and electric throughout
3- Southeastern Freight Lines trucking terminal expansion - Thonotosassa,
Fl (Approx $13 million) Consisted of extensive site work and addition of
lift stations and utility tie ins, an expansion to the existing loading
dock, where nearly 40 new overhead doors and dock levelers were installed
for the trucks to load and unload, addition and renovation to the
administrative offices and an 8500 sf metal building addition and tie- in
to the existing trucking terminal service building. I was the
superintendent overseeing the service building expansion, which was the
most complex part of the project. Included in this project was
extensive slab and foundation work, plumbing and mechanical, the
construction of a deep concrete pit which was connected to an oil- water
separator, slab sealing, block work, vertical steel column placement and
metal building erection, use of scissor and snorkel lifts, as well as a
lull, use of crane with 60' boom, running metal roofing and tying in to
perlins, the removal and resetting of a telephone pole, the addition of a
new electrical panel, underground directional boring, installation of 4'x
4' commercial ventilation fans, installation of 16' overhead doors,
overhead compressed airlines, and installation of a fire suppression
system among others.
4- First Community Bank- St. Petersburg, Fl (Approx $100,000) --
Consisted mainly of a drive- thru addition and site work. Two drive-
thru lanes were created and about 20,000 sf of asphalt was repaved
resulting in proper slope for run- off. This project included form and
foundation work for the new columns, the construction of a new dumpster
enclosure, forming and pouring of new curbs, installation of new vacuum
powered tube lines by Premier Hamilton, electric, metal stud framing,
stucco and lath, paint, installation of a new irrigation system, built-
up roofing, sidewalks, and landscaping.
5- Gulfport Central Title Company- Gulfport, Fl (Approx $90,000)
Consisted of a 1600 sf addition to the existing title company. Six-
teen hundred square feet were added on to the back of the existing title
company, which included foundation and slab work, termite spray, carpet
installation, plumbing and mechanical, metal stud framing, electric,
drywall, wall and ceiling texture, paint, lath and stucco, window
installation, pre- engineered truss system, shingle roofing, and digging
a retention pond.
6- Thailand Restaurant and Steak House- Sarasota, Fl This project was an
interior commercial build- out, which was located in a strip mall off of
Clark Road. The owner of the Thailand Restaurant wanted to expand to a
steak house and sushi bar, so he purchased the space next door, and
wanted to incorporate the two spaces into one restaurant. We ended up
knocking out the wall in between the two spaces and combining them.
Included in this project was substantial demolition work, installation
of 6 new hot tables, installation of mechanical exhaust hoods and make
-up fans, flooring, installation of new seats and booths, ventilation
systems, fancy new wall d cor, framing for doorway, drywall, paint, and
finish.
