Director of Innovation and Sustainability (2008 - 2009)
Developed and implemented the corporate strategy for innovation and
sustainability to meet the business objectives of this family owned global
network of nine business units in both manufacturing and the building
trades, with combined annual sales of over $600 million. The strategy
included establishing innovation and sustainability teams in all business
units, creating metrics to report and communicate the progress of each
initiative, and facilitating both face-to-face and virtual collaboration
among all areas of the organization. Developed websites using Share Point
for each initiative to encourage virtual collaboration among business
units. Communicated the initiatives with both internal and external
stakeholders to achieve broader awareness for innovation and
sustainability. Developed and managed the innovation and sustainability
budgets.
Key Achievements
o Assumed leadership role of Crane's Advanced Leadership program capstone
project to embed innovation into the corporate culture. Directed
company-wide team of champions to implement and execute the corporate
innovation strategy. Created a conduit to facilitate collaboration
between business units and create the foundation for an innovative
culture.
o Developed and implemented Crane Group's sustainability strategy. The
strategy included benchmarking each of the nine business units'
sustainability position, working with consultants on energy efficiency
projects, and creating the corporate sustainability database. Generated
$214,000 through the utilization of the electric generation demand
response program. Established waste management processes that included
recycling and waste diversion that reduced waste costs. Directed 35
team members across all nine business units to implement the strategy.

Product Designer (1999 -2008)
Provided innovation, design, and product development assistance for nine
business units. Collaborated with the product development, manufacturing &
marketing teams to develop profitable building and construction products
that led to the creation of new markets and a business unit. Developed the
knowledge base and positioning strategy for Crane Group's sustainability
initiative.
Key Achievements
o BellaStone architectural columns - Partnered with external innovators
to develop a product that utilized outside core competencies. First
year sales of $550,000, with second year sales forecasted at $1.5
million.
o DeckLites - Key contributor on the design and development of a lighting
system to enhance TimberTech deck installations. The design worked
exclusively with TimberTech deck and rail systems and was designed to
provide both safety and style.
o TimberTech Ornamental Rail - Designed & engineered TimberTech's
original railing product line, which had first year sales of $18.7
million.
o DrySpace - Designed and lead the development of the DrySpace product
line, which complements TimberTech's deck products and has grown to $2
million in annual sales. Facilitated the collaboration between external
and internal stakeholders to develop a product that was easily
manufactured and met cost targets. Provided marketing support.
Developed and implemented the packaging to meet distribution
challenges. Provided customer service for distribution, installers, and
homeowners.
Sales Design Engineer (1995 - 1999)
Partnered with OEM Sales Engineers and Proprietary Products Managers on the
design and development of diverse product lines in the areas of office
furniture, transportation, refrigeration, and building and construction.
Key Achievements
o Collaborated with team members to design and develop the wood composite
decking industry's first tongue-and-groove exterior deck board. The
TimberTech deck product was spun off as its own business unit and in
2008 had sales in excess of $200 million.
o Designed and developed a modular housing system for the Brazil and
Puerto Rico markets. Partnered with foreign based stakeholders to
analyze off-site manufacturing capabilities and local building trends.
