The Sumter Plant was one of three Midwest Stamping manufacturing
facilities. Approximately 90,000 square feet, 110 Associates and
makes automotive stampings and welded assemblies for Ford, Nissan
and Mercedes Benz - U.S. Equipment includes 18 presses to 600 ton,
robotic mig welding and special application welding equipment.

Lakepark Industries of Indiana, a division of Midway Products Group
of Monroe MI. is a tier one supplier of metal stampings and welded
assemblies to Ford. Prior to downsizing, Lakepark employed
approximately 300, and had Tandem lines to 1000 ton, progressive
presses to 800 ton and approximately 75 welders including Mig and
material handling robotics.

Lenawee Stamping Corporation (LSC), is a tier one JIT supplier of
automotive stampings and assemblies to Auto Alliance Inc. In 1994,
LSC employed approximately 400 hourly and salary employees.
Equipment consists of state-of-the-art Komatsu and AIDA presses
(400 ton blanking, one 500 ton, two 1200 ton and one 1500 ton
Komatsu Transfers, two AIDA Tandem Lines up to 700 ton, three AIDA
Progressive Lines and over 40 NACHI and Yaskawa material
handling/welding robots and weld cells. Lenawee Stamping is a
joint venture between Mazda, 51% ownership, and three other
Japanese suppliers to Mazda, Japan.
