Anvil Knitwear, Inc. (North Carolina) – over 100 year old company with $230 million in sales, of high quality active
wear and accessories sold to distributors. High commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly products.
* Restructured department, via task mapping and responsibility definition, to improve productivity and
effectiveness.
* Instituted check and balance reports to better monitor product development and schedule attainment.
* Implemented policy and procedures to bring structure and methodology to interfacing between
departments.
RESULTS: Increased sourcing volume to 18% of total sales (up from 9%) by enhancing the vendor base
capability, while reducing product costs and increasing margins to 35% (up from 27%).

Sara Lee Branded Apparel (North Carolina) – responsible for worldwide sourcing operations for all Sportswear
(Hanes, Champion, Outer Banks), Underwear and Hosiery divisions ($4.3 Billion).
* Direct responsibility for 35Million dozen or $600Million dollars of sourced product.
* Collaborated with other business units to deliver synergistic opportunity – leveraging
volume scale and assets. Also, developed a vendor grid “scorecard” to measure capabilities.
* Responsible for streamlining the process and integrating three divisions into one and improve interface
with off-shore hub locations.
* Relocated and merged highly profitable division with an under performing one – netting a combined
profit for both (went from $8MM to $18MM).
* Champion of all of Sara Lee’s worldwide, Seamless production.
* Reduced raw material costs (saving $700k) and set up strategic liaison with major
suppliers. Improved lead times by partnering with vendors.
* Restructured manufacturing facility to improve costs and increase throughput
capabilities. Decreased cost per minute from $0.14 to $0.075 per minute.
* Resourced full package products saving more than $2MM per year.
RESULTS: Cut operating cost by $2.6MM while improving service levels by 5 to 6% and margins by from
27% to 43%. Reduced inventory by $7.5MM.

* Responsible for planning, purchasing, traffic, inventory control, warehouse and import.
* Developed and implemented strategic plan of systems and control for materials area.

* Restructured warehouse configuration for optimal use in new zone direction (hard goods
vs. electronics).
