Profile Process engineer with unique experience who is
equally comfortable in the office or in the field.
Possesses excellent technical capabilities and a
demonstrated history of continuous improvement.
Experience Jul 2007 - Jun 2009 ISP Fine Chemicals Columbus, OH
Process Engineer
Duties include scale up of processes from bench or
lab pilot scale to small production scale,
including performing cost estimation for new
products, specifying equipment modifications,
performing Process Hazard Analysis via Layer of
Protection Analysis (LOPA), and process
troubleshooting.
Implemented a safety improvement on an established
product line that lead directly to a yield
improvement, and set the precendent for further
improvements.
Streamlined Process Hazard Analysis system. PHAs
take a fifth of the man-hours, but are more
consistent, more detailed, and more resolution
oriented than previous process.
Jan 2002-Jul 2007 Cytec Industries Willow Island,
WV
Process Engineer (IV 2002-2004, V 2004-2006, VI
2006-2007)
Duties included design and implementation of
general improvements for the industrial and
pharmaceutical (cGMP for APIs) batch surfactants
processes, IQ/OQ design and implementation, new
product introduction, Process Hazard Analysis,
authoring or modifying standard operating
procedures or log sheets, training personnel in
accordance with the Management of Change
procedures, and general troubleshooting.
Reduced TOC metric (liquid waste sent to treatment)
by 18% using Six Sigma methodology and philosophy.
Modified stripping procedures for products that
reduced cycle time by 25% and variability by 50%.
Implemented a $450K capital project to increase
reactor vacuum capacity that exceeded expectations
by 52% without an increase in cost. The system is
also more reliable, flexible, and energy efficient
than the previous reactor vacuum system.
Improved batch recipe control system programming
for 40+ products. Eliminated safety and
environmental hazards and increased plant capacity
by 7% through streamlined batch programming.
Created systems from scratch to monitor, report and
ensure compliance with Title V permit. These
systems were then able to cut environmental
reporting efforts from several days to minutes, and
were later critical in cycle time reduction efforts
for the plant.
Designed an inexpensive and effective replacement
process to transform scrap waste into sellable
product. New process is safer, more environmentally
friendly, and consumes no critical equipment hours.
Jun 2000-Jan 2002 Cytec Industries Willow Island,
WV
Process Reliability Engineer
Duties included equipment specification,
standardization, maintenance troubleshooting, and
design and implementation of equipment reliability
improvement programs site-wide across three
production plants and two utility plants.
Created and administered an equipment vibration
analysis and oil analysis program. Trained 30+
operators to perform basic condition monitoring on
equipment.
Coordinated data integrity efforts for the site in
the corporate wide implementation of a new
Computerized Maintenance Management System
(Maximo). Directed a team of six temporary
employees to complete the transition from the old
CMMS.
