Engineer in Hella's York S.C. auto lighting plant with responsibility for

all German and far east component suppliers.

Responsibilities and Accomplishments:

Main responsibility was to develop and monitor incoming quality of

purchased components from European and Hella suppliers in Germany, China,

and eastern Europe and participating as a member of the York plant SAP

Launch Core Team as a QM Lead.

Interface with Hella KG corporate purchasing in Germany on a daily basis

monitoring and reporting supplier performance, PPM trends, production

readiness as well as carrying out corrective action initiatives associated

with new program launches.

Analyzed problems by collection of data via 8D, 5WHY, and PFMEA breakdown

analysis.

Successfully outsourced all tooling associated with the BMW, Mercedes, and

VW programs realizing a cost savings of approximately $4M over 7 years.

Responsible for continuous improvement related all VW, BMW, Volvo, PACCAR

and Mercedes programs.

Traveled regularly to Germany as a part of APQP in conjunction with Hella

prelaunch of new programs destined for the USA.

A German manufacturer of extruded, injection, and transfer molded rubber

auto sealing systems for VW and BMW based in Viersen, Germany. Employed as

a product line Quality Engineer.

Responsibilities and Accomplishments:

Major responsibilities and accomplishments were to represent Draftex in VW

de Mexico's plant in Puebla, Mexico regarding all aspects of product

quality, problem resolution, and engineering changes associated with the VW

New Beetle and A4 / 5 Jetta-Bora programs.

Traveled to and participated in prototype assembly presentations

(Baumuster) and PPAP submissions for the VW Jetta and New Beetle programs

in Wolfsburg, Germany.

Presented cost improvements and cost savings totaling $3M over a six year

period as a condition of employment.

Interfaced with customer quality and engineering representatives during VW,

BMW, Mercedes, and GM life cycles.

CAROLINA JACOBSON INJECTION MOLDING, SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA, Quality

Manager, 1993 - 1997

Carolina Jacobson was a custom injection molder of medical, automotive

aftermarket and electronic sub-assemblies for various markets. Responsible

for managing all quality related issues with new and established customers

as well as assuring the overall development of the quality organization of

22 Technicians and one supervisor.

Responsibilities and Accomplishments:

Successfully managed a QA department of 22 technicians in a 24/7 shop

operation.

Chaired steering committee responsible for ultimately achieving ISO-9002

certification in 1996.

Reduced customer returns and complaints from $30K per month to less than

$300.00 per month using basic Ishakawa tools.

Instrumental in reducing scrap from $30,000.00 per month to $300.00 per

month by implementing systems of visual standards and systematic reactions

to statistically out of control situations.

KERR PLASTICS, JACKSON, TENNESSEE, Quality Manager, 1990-1993

Kerr Plastics was proprietary injection molder of pharmaceutical

containers/closures located in Jackson, Tennessee. Headquartered in

Administration.

Responsibilities and Accomplishments:

Interfaced with the Federal Consumer Products Safety Commission conducting

random audits to FDA and CPSC guidelines internally as well as area

children's nurseries and senior citizens centers.

Responsible for maintaining product quality levels and periodically

submitting production line samples to corporate R&D for FDA and CPSC

compliance and protocol testing.
