ALFREDO HUECK - Director and editor
Caracas, July 22nd, 1980
Graduated from the first class of the School of Communication at the Santa
Maria University (COSSMA). In 1999, he won Best Documental Video with SHE
IS ELLA ES at the III University Congress of Communication Students
in Santa Fe de Bogot, Colombia.
While attending Santa Maria University, he also attended the School of Film
and Television in Caracas, Venezuela, where he made the experimental video
ESPINOZA, part of the official selection at the "Expresion en Corto
Festival" in Mexico, and directed his final thesis in 16mm called INTRIGA.
For two years he worked as Assistant Editor for the sitcom PLANETA DE 6
(Planet of 6) that aired in Venezuela on TELEVEN, a national television
channel. He later founded HH3 Producciones, a company dedicated to the
production of short films, full feature films, video clips and
audiovisuals.
In 2004 Alfredo makes his entrance in cinema with his first fiction short
film YBI-173. The movie got major recognition in Venezuela winning several
awards such as Best Script, Best Sound, Best Actor and taking 2nd place at
the Manuel Trujillo Duran Festival 2005. It also collected Best Short Film
at the Barquisimeto Festival; Best Editing at the Municipal Awards
Libertador; Best Fiction Short Film, Best Original Script and Best Editing
at the VIART Festival as well as Best Latin American Short Film in Spain at
the TVE Spanish Version competition.
The international success of his first short film allowed him to produce
and tape in Venezuela the 30-minute short film UN GALLO Y UN CORRAL
(Rooster and Corral), and another fiction short in Spain ENAMORATE (Fall in
Love), recorded in the Madrid Subway System. ENAMORATE was selected by the
Cine Rail Festival in Paris and got a Special Jury Mention at the Brussels
International Film Festival.
In 2007 Alfredo worked as In-Set Editor for Anonimo Studio in Henry
Rivero's first film PURAS JOYITAS and right after he started directing one
of the two 45-minute short films that make up the movie BLOQUES (Blocks),
produced by the Villa del Cine.
He wins in 2008 TNT's reality show PROJECT 48 and films his latest short
QUEDATE (Stay), which was televised for all of Latin America.
During 2008 with his production company, Alfredo runs the very successful
monthly short film showcase HAY TALENTO EN EL BAR (Talent at the bar) that
later evolved into HAY TALENTO EN EL LOUNGE (Talent at the lounge).
Alfredo is currently writing his second full-length film VUELVEALAVIDA
(Have your life back), which won a grant by the Venezuelan National Center
for Film CNAC in 2008, while post-producing his very first feature film
PAQUETE #3 (Package number 3).
