Experience

Position: EFL teacher

In 2011 and 2012 I taught EFL to a range of students including adults and children at Language Link,

Hanoi, Vietnam. Language Link is an international language school with branches in 5 countries and

is one of Vietnam’s most prestigious language schools. Whilst employed here I developed a wide

range of teaching skills. I was responsible for planning lessons, creating resources, teaching,

evaluating students and undertaking placement tests. I taught a variety of levels and ages, from

beginner to intermediate and from kindergarten to professional and academic adults. I look forward

to having the opportunity to build upon these skills with your students.

Position: Private Tutor

I gave private English lessons to several members of a Vietnamese family over a period of 4 months.

Initially, I taught an intermediate 40 year old woman, Huyen. Huyen was extremely happy with my

methods and her progress and I soon began tutoring her 9 and 11 year old sons and two 15 year old

teenagers. I had to be very flexible and inventive with these students t o ensure they were satisfied

and their interest levels remained high. Excellent standards of organisation were required for this

job and I am confident your students will benefit from my well prepared lessons.

Position: State School EFL Teacher

I taught grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 English at Ngoc Ha Primary School in Vietnam from November 2011 until

May 2012. The lessons were 40 minutes long and as I only saw the students once a week, I made an

effort to quickly get to know the large number of students I had, to ensure they were actively

participating in class and progressing. I was attentive to their interests and was able to create

lessons which they enjoyed.

Position: Volunteer Migrant Mentor

I took part in a mentorship programme through AMES (Adult Multicu ltural Education Services) in

Melbourne, Australia. I was matched with Nasrat, a 27 year old woman from Bangladesh. During our

meetings we created an action plan for Nasrat to find employment. I facilitated activities and role

plays to build Nasrat’s skills and confidence to seek jobs and attend interviews. I helped Nasrat with

her English, in order to improve her CV and interview skills. Nasrat’s culture interested me and I

created the most effective sessions to help her by learning as much as I could abou t her and her

background. I look forward to learning about your students and building lessons around their

interests.

Position: Customer Service Co-ordinator

I managed the customer service department of Mimco, a high end Australian fashion company. My

role included managing staff, meeting deadlines, training staff members and communicating with 40

Mimco stores and 37 stockists to positively promote the Mimco brand. My positive attitude and

outlook helped stimulate my co-workers’ enthusiasm for the Mimco brand. I dealt with a wide range

of staff members and I understood that in order to build rapport and relationships, it was important

to consider individuals' personal motivation for working for Mimco. It is equ ally important to

understand within the TESOL classroom that students are motivated by different factors. I look

forward to fostering the motivation of your students with my well organised and positive classroom.
