SUMMARY
Senior Supervising Engineer with over 35 years of experience, including both structural engineering
and engineering management for fossil-fueled power stations, retrofit of fossilfueled power stations
for pollution control systems, nuclear power plant structures, cogeneration plants, industrial facilities,
water and wastewater treatment plants, and transportation structures. Extensive experience
leading/providing engineering for structural steel, ductwork, and foundations for major power plant
and industrial projects. Experience includes analysis and design for both static and dynamic loads.
EXPERIENCE
2000 - Present Senior Supervising Structural Engineer, WorleyParsons, Reading, Pennsylvania
Develop estimates, establish design criteria, coordinate design activities, and perform special
engineering tasks for structural engineering services on fossil-fueled power stations including flue
gas desulfurization, selective catalytic reductions, and mercury capture projects. Also responsible for
coordination and implementation of quality assurance procedures.
Provide structural engineering and engineering management for coal-fired power plant flue gas
desulfurization and NOx removal systems for units from 200 MW to 900 MW. This work includes
structural steel design, ductwork design, and design of shallow and deep foundations. Foundation
design includes foundations for structural steel as well as foundations for other plant equipment
including chimneys, absorber vessels, fans, silos, and tanks.
Responsible for the supervision and coordination of the structural engineering services for power and
industrial plant retrofit and upgrade projects, and providing structural engineering support for
WorleyParsons’ Nuclear Group.
1985 - 2000 Chief Structural Engineer, Hyder Consulting, lnc./Acer Engineers and Consultants, lnc./PSC
Engineers & Consultants, Inc./Huth Engineers, Inc., Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Responsible for work assignments and utilization of structural engineering personnel. Also,
responsible for structural design standards and criteria, structural quality control and complex
structural analysis and design.
Project Manager
Responsible for project management, including technical and financial performance for projects that
are primarily building, or special structural design for transportation and industrial facilities.
Performed preliminary design, and prepared feasibility evaluations for co-generation plants and
resource recovery facilities.
1980 - 1985 Senior Project Engineer, United Engineers and Constructors, Inc., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Responsible for engineering of building structures, foundations, equipment supports, large scale
ductwork, tanks, underflow tunnels and pipe support bridges for power plant projects.
Provided structural engineering for a major coal-fired power plant retrofit flue gas cleaning project,
including enhanced particulate removal and wet scrubbing.
Product Development Engineer, United States Gypsum Company, Chicago, Illinois
1978 - 1980
Responsible for directing development of new construction products including budget administration,
technical and economic evaluation, computer modeling, prototyping, testing, product performance
analysis, and evaluation of manufacturing requirements.
Senior Structural Engineering Specialist, Sargent and Lundy Engineers, Chicago, Illinois
1973 - 1978
Worked for, and with, nationally recognized experts to design Category I structures for nuclear power
plants. This involved finite element analysis, seismic analysis and other special analysis and design
requirements for nuclear power plants.
Structural Engineering Specialist
Performed structural engineering analysis and reinforced concrete design for the drywell structure for
a BWR nuclear power plant.
Page 1
Performed dynamic analysis and design of structural supports for rotating/vibrating equipment.
Structural Design Engineer
Responsible for structural steel and reinforced concrete analysis and design for power plants.
