I n response to more detail on my responsibilities at the mine. I was a production supervisor
and had to inspect all working areas of the mine. I had to do safety interactions or one on
one’s with employees in their working environments. We had 3 coal crushers one load-out
t hat had to be inspected and tested for all gases. There was also one rock crusher that I
looked at every shift. I inspected all mining roads for with and grade and to make sure the
berms were up to standards. I inspected the top and bottom of all high-walls we were
working under and the same with spoil banks. I had to look at all dozer projects and insure
t he work was being done safe. I t was important that material being pushed was not
creating hazards for others working in the area. The drill area had to be inspected so as i t
was properly demarcated and there was no explosives left unattended. I would have to clear
out personnel and block for coal and overburden shots. The inspection included 2 shovels 1
excavator and 3 big loaders and a f leet of 15 haul t rucks. All loading and dumping areas
were inspected for hazards. If a hazard was found I would make the necessary corrections to
m itigate the hazard. I would start every shift off with a safety meeting and tell people about
t he potential hazards we could come across in the shift. I was involved in safety
i mprovements and the safety team at the mine. We would do a lot of spot inspections and
safety audits. I was also responsible for collecting information and filling out accident
reports. Every incident was reported. I was responsible for up to 60 people any given shift
and would observe to make sure they were following safety procedures. If one was not I
would have an interaction to stress the importance of not taking short cuts.
In 1995 I took and passed the M HSA instructor course and received a certification. I then
helped put together and delivered experienced miner t raining at ColoWyo, Navajo M ine in
New Mexico, and CNCC Community College. I was an instructor at CNCC for 3 years.
E nvironmental aspects were as important as safety. All employees/equipment were
tested for noise and dust. Each employee received a lung test each year. All
necessary employees were fi t tested for respirators on a yearly basis. All fall
p rotection was inspected once a year. All spills were properly cleaned up and there
was MSDS sheets on everything used at the mine. I helped do t raining for all
m iners on environmental aspects. I would make out spill reports to report any spills
t hat may have occurred on any given shift. There were standards set for time for
exposure, like noise in a dragline for example. I was to make sure these restrictions
were being followed. This includes confined space and testing for gasses. Dust and
weather affected the environment and caused hazards. I would monitor dust and
t ake proper measures to keep i t safe using water t rucks and systems in the drills
and crushers. I would order employees to place crushed rock on the used haul roads
w hen necessary. I would reinspect all working areas after each rain/snow freeze or
t haw. When there were loaded coal or overburden shots and lightning was in the
a rea I would clear out mining personnel. I would make sure that the team and I
would be on the same page as the engineers on all reclamation work. We would
a lways allow extra t ime and discuss hazards that were present in reclamation work.

Ground Roof Duties
Working as a production supervisor and production lead man for the last fifteen years, i had to
inspect the pit numerous times. Looking at aspects of ground control, for a few examples, high
walls, spoil banks, and road conditions, dumps etc.
Worksite Safety
In last the fifteen years as a supervisor/ lead man, I was actively involved in implications and
holding employees accountable to safety standards and rules. I worked with management to audit
and inspect safety programs and thru learned process implement new safety systems.
Worksite Environmental Conditions
Well-rehearsed in all environmental aspects, from gas testing to water in a surface mine setting.
