PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

PANASONIC CANADA INC. 1995 – March 2012

Director Component Product Sales

Reported to the President of Panasonic Canada Inc. (PCI) and to the President of Panasonic Industrial

Device Sales of America (PIDSA). Managed a team of 12, key accountabilities included revenue,

profitability, and customer service. In addition, this position has ongoing responsibility for inventory,

receivables, expenses and staff development.

• Established strategic relationships with key customers: RIM, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Company,

WC Wood, Celestica, Tyco Securities, Sierra Wireless, Nortel, and Fantom Technologies. Total

revenue for these accounts exceeded $1 billion

• Determined the strategy and vision for the components group which included a global approach to

business resulting in unprecedented growth in revenue and profitability.

• Provided local support to Panasonic’s authorized distributors: Digi-Key, Arrow, Avnet, TTI

• Supported customer’s activities on a global basis by identifying their needs and providing solutions.

Conducted business in several countries outside of Canada: USA, Mexico, China, Taiwan, Hungary

• Established Panasonic as a strategic supplier to Research in Motion by providing local and global

support. RIM related sales totalled more than $350 million over a twelve year period

• Established third party hubs and introduced VMI programs to RIM and all of their subcontractors

around the world. This allowed Panasonic Canada to maintain the RIM business as it expanded

around the world. (less than 10% of the revenue was generated in Canada)

• Established Panasonic as the ‘global window’ for RIM. As a result, all RIM related business was

managed by Panasonic Canada.

• Diversified product offering and account base to replace business that was lost as a result of changing

technology and customer base.

• Successfully introduced products and technologies to the Canadian market place which included:

HEPA filters, blower motors, encoders, jog balls, ALIVH substrate. In many cases, Panasonic Canada

was the first sales office outside of Japan to have success with these products.

• Reengineered and modified operating procedures resulting in efficiencies and higher levels of

customer satisfaction.

• Elevated the profile of the components group within Panasonic Canada and within the Canadian

electronics industry. At the peak, the components business represented more than 15% of Panasonic

Canada’s total revenue.
