Work Experience:
The Folgers Coffee Co was purchased by Smucker's from Procter & Gamble in
November 2008. I was in scope at the time of purchase since I worked in
Folgers R&D and began to work for Smucker's. My main focus was on the
continuous development of coffee predrying. In 2009, Smucker's
announced that they would be transferring our group to Orrville Ohio and
closing our Cincinnati location in October 2011. I led a team to
transfer and start up existing R&D equipment from the Cincinnati location
to the Orrville location during the move. I also started a new coffee
R&D predrying project in Orrville during the summer/fall of 2011.
Procter & Gamble, 1976-2008
I worked in Folgers Coffee Product Development at WHBC for about one and
one half years. The assignment that I was hired to do here disappeared
after three months. That job was the startup and qualification of a
liquid coffee beverage at a contract manufacturer. For the next five
months after that assignment, I worked on various technical issues
including: nitrogen costsavings in Folgers canisters, one way valve
testing and test method development, and powdered flavor qualification. I
then began working on the predried coffee project increasing capability
on the current equipment and developing new, less expensive equipment for
increased capacity of that raw material.
My previous assignments at Procter & Gamble were:
1. Working in Snack & Beverage Techology Department at MVIC. This
assignment was for three years. I had led numerous plant EO's and
qualification tests for creamy coffee beverages keying on creamer
manufacture. In addition, I had conducted and evaluated a number
of stability studies in that area.
2. Juice Product Development for seven years, Sunny Delight - Food &
Beverage Department. I had the responsibility of process
development - both basemaking(concentrate) and finished product.
That role built upon twenty years of experience in Product
Development - Food & Beverages. In that position, I qualified new
co-packers and P&G plants to blend and process our Sunny Delight
and Hawaiian Punch brands. Part of that responsibility had been in
the area of developing better and more economical beverage raw
materials and processes. In addition, my duties included exploring
new beverage opportunities in other areas of the world focusing on
the Mid East and the Far East. Also, my function had been to
evaluate new and current businesses outside the United States for
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). I have been to Canadian,
Puerto Rican and Mexican co-packers to assess their processes and
start up their systems on Sunny Delight and Hawaiian Punch. My
past work experience in the beverage area includes test market and
national expansions of various Valensina and Punica brand juice and
juice drinks in Germany. I have been on numerous international
assignments including Germany, Belgium, P.R. China, Taiwan, Brazil,
Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. I have been awarded two patents:
one (5260086) for an aseptic pulp process and product using such
pulp; another (5411755) for work in China developing a natural high
intensity sweetener from a local fruit called Luo Han Guo.
3. Previous assignments at P&G include product development of many
shampoos, conditioners, dentifrice, mouthwashes and detergents for
Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Venezuela and Japan.
My personal computer experience is excellent and includes many DOS and
Windows-based programs such as Word, Excel, Visio Technical, Powerpoint,
Project, etc.

was ten years old.
