Life Science Work Experience: Ohio University, College of Arts and Sciences

Under direction of Associate Chair of Biomedical Sciences, (15-20 per wk). Lab is working towards a chromosomal deletion of a gene suspect is involved in the metabolic pathway of para cresol by the bacteria Thauera Aromatica.

Techniques include: gel electrophoresis, electroporation, anaerobic bacterial growth, PCR, DNA digest, DNA extraction, and making basic media. Use of confocal and fluorescent microscopes.

Project Work: completed work for PhD thesis in regards to freshwater fish sex determination and heritability of physical traits
