Personal Statement
I am a retired Navy Nurse (LCDR). During my twenty-four years in
the Navy, I was mobilized twice (Kuwait 2004/Germany 2007). I
have extensive experience as a nurse in several areas (Medical-
Surgical, Clinic, PACU, ER, OR, Home Health) and have experience
in preparing clinics for weather disasters (hurricanes, typhoons).
I also have extensive military training. I completed an
Associate's in Medical Practice Management in Nov 2011. I am
looking for a challenging position where I can use this degree
along with my nursing experience and ability to communicate in
Spanish fluently.

Assigned to the Data Acquisition Branch. Abstract data from trauma charts
coming from the combat zone (Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait). Search multiple
systems (TMDS, PASBA) for accurate information to be entered into the Joint
Theatre Trauma Registrar. Use nursing skills to determine diagnosis,
injuries, treatments, procedures, labs, tests, blood, fluids, etc. to
ensure accurate data is entered.

administered medications, dressing changes (wound vac), collected
specimens, coordinated care with other disciplines (PT, OT, ST), and
reported changes in patient condition and abnormal findings/symptoms to MD.

accordingly. Anticipated and ensured equipment and supplies available.
Ensured patients able to contact family and friends at home upon arrival to
hospital. Prepared wounded for air evacuation to stateside facilities.

anesthesia/surgeon. Provided safe environment while waking up from
anesthesia. During this employment period, mobilized twice (2004/2007).
