-Practical Experience-
I have prior expierience in Alaskas commercial fishing fleet, US
Government research vessels (NOAA) and 5 years working for Crowley
Maritime Services for a combined sea service of about 15 years at
sea, primarily in the harsh environments of Alaska, but also the
Atlantic and Gulf Coast, Gulf of Mexico. I am proficient working on
hydraulics systems, miscellaneous equipment and diesel motors as
well as operating cranes at sea and ashore, 966 loaders, and
various typs of forklifts. I have worked with complex machinery
that requires daily maintenance, including welding, at a soil
processing plant. I am good with tools and machine work, and can
operate most heavy equipment and have a lot of experience as a
crane operator. I am knowledgeable with hydraulic systems as well
as HVAC/R Systems. I have commercial crab fished for Opilio, King
and Dungeness involving the deployment and recovery of fish traps,
as well as pacific cod which are fished in a similar manner. I have
long lined for Halibut and black cod. I have also commercial salmon
seined as well as gillnetted for salmon of all species. I am an
experienced net mender ranging from commercial trawl to salmon
purse seine, as well as gillnets. I am familiar with building nets
from scratch as well as reading net plans to customize or improve
existing trawl nets. I have run cranes for many commercial seasons
and am a confident, safe and experienced operator. I have operated
shrimp trawls on the R/V Oregon 2 as well as deployed CTD's and
Nustons. Also I have Deployed CTD's, Bongo's, and Mantas as an
Operator on the R/V Oscar Dyson.
For the past 7 years I have been working tug and barge in western
Alaska, servicing the coast of Alaska delivering Fuels and freight
in various capacities from oil rigs and ships at sea to small rural
communities. I have navigated the coastal waters of Alaska, Canada
and Washington as well as safely navigated the major rivers in
Alaska. This is seasonal employment. For aprox 6-7 months, mid
April to November where I am currently employed as a chief mate. I
have no problem with long voyages 200 plus days @ sea. I am looking
to broaden my horizons and experience, furthering my skill set as a
mariner. I am very flexible for travel or for short notice
deployment.
