s tretch as the owner/operator of a retail establishment that became the victim of the economic downturn,

my experiences in management including the development of teams with an out of the box, can-do

WORK EXPERIENCE

Nov, 2010-present - Retail sales associate for a local hardware and building supply business.

D uring the fi rst year in this position, I surpassed all employee sales records in the history of the company.

Established new customer base for the business as well as maintained existing customer base. I also

perform much of the purchasing and some scheduling activities.

Aug, 2003 – Aug, 2010 - Owner/Operator of a retail building and agricultural supply business.

M anaged up to $1.8 annual sales until economy downturned and both building and farm supply became

s tressed in this small shrinking community. When several prospective opportunities failed to materialize

as expected i t became apparent that the business should be closed and I should move on.

Nov, 2000 Aug, 2003 - SAFT America, Valdosta, GA. - Operations manager for 150 employees and

$50 million segment of this French-owned international manufacturer of N I-Cad energy storage systems

for the aircraft and rail industr ies. During my time at this position overtime decreased from 25% to less

t han 10% and on-t ime delivery improved to 85% from below 70% levels. While at this location I

participated in implementing an in-house vendor warehouse greatly reducing inventory levels.

J ul, 2000 – Nov, 2000 – Brook Manufacturing, Union, Ms. - Plant Manager for this manufacturer of

automotive brake components. Although my t ime was short at this location, i t took only three months to

return this plant to profitability and reduce scrap, overtime, product complaints and many other metrics

to levels not experienced there in several months. While I would like to take credit for sophisticated world

class methods of improvement, this environment needed only a common sense approach to r id itself of

poor work habits and a return to fundamentals for this immediate improvement. My reasons for leaving

t his position and returning to the South Georgia area involved family health issues.

Aug, 1990 – Jul, 2000 – TI Group Automotive, Valdosta, Ga. – Plant Manager for this

manufacturer of automotive f luid delivery systems (hose and tube assemblies for oil and t ransmission

f luids). Successes at this location were phenomenal and have yet to be equaled within the company. On-

t ime delivery between 1992 and 2000 on sales of $18 million annually was 100% and labor productivity

was 95%. A company record of 688 days (average of 100 employees) without a lost-t ime accident was

achieved. Only one month in ten years was the operating margin less than 30% and that due to a work

s toppage by the customer. Budget goals were consistently met year after year. Inventory tu rns hovered

between 25-30 and once hit 42. All of the performance metrics were reasons enough to keep the plant open

and viable past the point in which i t needed to expand its 30,000 sq. / ft. capacity and needed to be moved

to a larger facility. The plant was closed in July, 2000 and manufacturing was relocated to a larger facility

i n Mexico.
