Advisor: Dr. Shannon J. Timpe Spring 2012 – Fall 2012

Research Title: Design, Construction and Testing of an Environmental Chamber for

MicroElectroMechanical Systems

Designed and constructed an environmental chamber for MicroElectroMechanical Systems testing.

Performance, stability and reliability of MEMS structures are tested under different combinations of

temperature, humidity and chemical environment in which they are operated.

Experimental Data was gathered using microtribometer devices mounted on the microchamber and

compared with previously gathered data from the same device using conventional probe station.

Experimental Data from the microchamber falls within the expected range when compared with

conventional probe station results.
