Dear Sirs:
I believe I have both the drive and skills to be an asset for your
organization in this position. I have both a BA degree in Business
Management and a BA degree in Economics from North Carolina State
University. I have spent the majority of my 20 year career as a business
development/lending specialist or as a credit/financial analyst. I also
possess superior communication and negotiation skills, effective
presentation skills, experience at consultative selling, excellent self-
discipline and time-management skills, and a strong passion and desire to
succeed.
In July of 1991, I was selected by Barnett Bank of Jacksonville to
participate in their Management Associate Program where I was formally
credit trained. In September of 1991, I served as a Commercial Credit
Analyst. Among my responsibilities, I conducted extensive credit analysis
of existing and prospective clients and prepared definitive reports for
senior management to facilitate decision making. In November of 1993, I
became Assistant Vice President/ Business Banker with Barnett Bank. Among
my duties, I performed an initial financial evaluation of potential
commercial borrowers. In 1998, I was recruited by First Union National Bank
and served as Vice President/ Financial Specialist where I evaluated and
analyzed business and personal financial information in order to approve or
deny consumer and commercial loans as well as establish lines of credit for
consumers and small businesses.
In 1999, I wanted to be an entrepreneur and started my own commercial
mortgage business. With the expenses being greater than my income, I
decided to accept a position in November of 2000 as Manager of Existing
Small Business at the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce's Small
Business Center. There, I conducted extensive assessments of business
financial status and also evaluated management practices and made
recommendations based on those assessments. In year 2001, on a volunteer
basis, I served as a Board member for Jacksonville Economic Development
Company (a SBA CDC) and served as a loan committee member where we
evaluated business and personal financial information for loan
consideration. In 2004, I was recruited by Neighborhood Lending Partners,
Inc. to be Market President for the new North Florida which covered 42
counties. I was responsible for the implementation and execution of
Neighborhood Lending Partner of North Florida lending program, which
includes serving as senior loan officer. Being an office of one person, I
spent 5-6 days on the road and the remaining days doing administrative
duties. Due to the negative effect on my family, in 2005, I took a position
as Business Development Manager for The Wild Group. There, I analyzed
financial information and management potential of existing businesses to
determine investment potential. Unfortunately, due to under capitalization,
the company went out of business. Therefore, in October of 2006, I accepted
a position as Business Development Officer for Essential Capital Finance,
Inc. (ECF). At ECF, we participated with banks to fund commercial real
estate loans. In 2007 the economy took a severe downturn and their
commercial lending, and I was laid off in 2008. Then, I took a part-time
position with a not-for-profit organization. Although the position was
financially challenging, it was personally rewarding. In 2010, I started a
commercial maintenance company; however revenues and accounts did build as
I had forecasted. Therefore, I accepted a position as a sales associate
with an automobile dealership. This has given me the opportunity to refocus
and sharpen my sales, negotiation, and business development skills.
I am excited about the rewarding personal and career growth your company
can provide as well as the experience and drive I can bring to your
organization. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss with you the
possibility of joining your team. I am very motivated and look forward to
talking with you soon, and thank you for your consideration.
