Lexicon, d.b.a. Harman Specialty Group, Bedford, MA
Engineering Services Manager (2004 to 2006)
Managed a staff of nine providing Document Control, Component Engineering,
PCB design, Mechanical Design and Product Safety and Regulatory services
for Design Engineering. Reported directly to the Vice President of
Engineering.
. Managed the program to successfully upgrade mechanical design from 2-D
AutoCAD to 3-D SolidWorks 2005. Evaluations of leading contenders
(SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor 8, and ProE Wildfire) were performed with
two design engineers before choosing SolidWorks.
. Major participant in the Consumer Electronic Association's R1WG10
Committee's 3-year revision of ANSI/CEA-636 Recommended Loudspeaker
Safety Standards, an industry document of best practices in designing for
and assessing loudspeaker consumer safety.
Managed the program to research and compare the relative merits of PLM
systems to upgrade a paper-driven documentation system. System adopted
was 1/3rd the cost of the closest contender and superior in its ability
to integrate with the mCAD and eCAD environments, Forecast to save $3.5mm
for the $24mm company in the first year of implementation.
. Managed the program to assess company vulnerability to RoHS. Employed a
component-centric "triage" approach to provide strategic information to
Design Engineering for determination of the scope and cost of revision
for each product. Program was completed on time and within budget.
