MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Production Management / New Product Development / Operations & Process

Improvement / QA

Equipment Installation / ISO-QS 9000 / Change Leadership / Team Building /

Consulting

I have managed manufacturing operations for companies that produce a

variety of products from specialty paper goods to heavy construction

equipment, solving complex problems and dramatically improving

productivity. By aligning people and tasks in a way that inspires

confidence, I built and led winning production line teams.

o Gaining trust and respect of operations personnel at every level.

o Conducting root cause analysis of problems at the human/machine

interface.

o Identifying and analyzing defects in supplier/contractor products and

processes.

o Building and leading high-performance manufacturing teams.

o Reducing failure rates and optimizing productivity.

I earned an MBA from Frostburg State University and a BS in Manufacturing

Technology from California University of Pennsylvania. As an operations-

oriented leader, I take a hand-on approach to both management and problem

solving. I am a confident decision maker and a strategic thinker who takes

a whole-system process view.

SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Isolated persistent packaging problems and reduced failure rate. Christmas

card packages sealed at the factory were mysteriously falling apart in the

warehouse. In-depth analysis over months, including process testing,

revealed that blister board supplier was the problem. Changed suppliers,

reducing failures from 21% to 0.1%.

Led program of corporate culture change, dramatically improving

productivity. Paper Magic Group suffered from quality problems and hide-

bound production practices. Hired to improve bottom line, conducted focus

groups, drove evolution of "learning organization" and developed

productivity tracking system. Productivity rose 22%.

Implemented process improvements that cut set-up time in half. As leader

of Rapid Exchange of Tooling Team, discovered that Gilmour machines sat

idle for twelve hours while dies were changed out. Videotaped entire

process, conducted brainstorming sessions with all lead personnel and cut

die change time to six hours.

Gained employee trust and built effective teams to reduce overtime and

improve productivity. Tokico USA was faced with excessive employee overtime

and persistent failure to meet production schedules. Spent first year with

company building trust and helping staff solve multiple problems, improving

productivity 21% by year end.
