. Conducted 2 research projects on the efficacy of training youth in CPR.
. Researched whether 7th or 10th graders would be more apt to train their
households on CPR learned in school; presented preliminary findings at
cardiology conference in Las Vegas and American Public Health
Associations (APHA) national conference.
Community Education:
. Created 1st-of-its-kind program in state and nation encompassing raising
funds from American Heart Association (AHA) to implement CPR training for
all County's 20,000 7th graders; currently being implemented, and
attempting to be replicated by counties in California and Texas.
. Opened new teaching opportunities for staff, developing new community
education programs.
. Provided at-risk teenagers with career opportunities, developing pre-
emergency-medical-technical (pre-EMT) program at youth detention
facility; served as feeder program for EMT certification.
. Launched new program to train low-income high-risk pregnant mothers on
