Sr. Applications Analyst, I/T Department (1999-2007)
Partnered with business management and end-users throughout the design and
development of new and enhanced database systems to gather and prioritize
requirements; assigned and managed tasks for teams of up to 4 I/T
professionals; created and executed system test plans; and documented new
systems and enhancements to existing systems.
. Managed and designed new 3000-hour Rail Invoice Processing System
automating manual user processes which would result in a labor savings of
20 hours per week. Assigned and scheduled tasks for 4 I/T professionals.
Worked diligently to encompass last minute user requests and changes
into overall system design without compromising system quality. Received
customer commendation for this effort.
. Designed modifications to the General Journals System creating interfaces
to and from the Peoplesoft general ledger package providing a common
chart of accounts among merged companies and subsidiaries. Led a team of
3 I/T professionals for all mainframe system changes. Partnered with Sr.
management throughout this 10-month project ensuring business objectives
were met and expectations were exceeded.
. Simultaneously managed the conversion of various systems from accounting
period to monthly processing in order to align with corporate reporting
mandate. Led 3 I/T professionals in designing and restructuring programs,
jobs, and processing schedules, and creating new data feeds. Implemented
system changes smoothly with no interruptions to the business users'
closing processes.
. Restated Company Income and Expense System data for a division
realignment project providing accurate current and historical information
for all reporting entities. Recognized for this effort by the Vice-
President of Finance for being available at odd hours and commitment and
dedication to the job.
Systems Analyst (1994-1999)
Designed, developed, and implemented new online database applications,
supported and maintained systems in the finance, accounting, and operations
areas. Educated team members on system flows and special processing.
. Gathered requirements, scheduled tasks, and directed the efforts of 10
I/T professionals for a new in-house Settlement System. Tested,
documented, and implemented this 6000-hour project which generated a
savings of $10,000 per month in AS400 maintenance fees.
. Developed an Executive Information System providing the executive staff
with timely and accurate freight and revenue data needed to manage the
business on a daily basis. Received a quality award for this effort.
. Developed a plan and trained executive staff and division field personnel
on the new EIS tool enabling them to use and become familiar with the
tool prior to implementation. Restructured static reports and created
additional reports in response to business needs.

. Developed a new online Expense Report Accounting System to capture and
validate expense report information by line item. Created system-

award for this effort.
. Developed a new Operations Performance Reports System allowing field
facilities and Operations Engineering Department to monitor and improve
the new scheduled field operations resulting in better labor management
and reduced labor costs.
. Instituted modifications to a program that ran in over 50 steps in
various jobs, reducing run time from 3 hours to 3 minutes per job.
Implemented changes reducing the amount of time needed for the Income and
Expense Department to provide period company reports to the executive
staff by 1 week.
. Created a process to calculate total company numbers for the flexed
budget system saving the end-user 2 hours per period during the closing
process.
