President
Hired to turnaround this newly acquired $6 million underperforming
commercial printing company. Achieved operating efficiencies and 17% sales
growth in the 1st quarter of 2008. Managed a staff of 4 direct and 48
indirect reports including the Vice President of Operations, Vice President
of Sales, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Director of Customer
Relations. Due to the failing economy, daily operations were assumed by
the equity holders in August 2008 and the position was eliminated

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Provided operational leadership for a 114 person manufacturing facility
supporting the leading Mississippi based commercial printing company.
Worked closely with the CFO to develop the operating budget including
allocation of costs, equipment utilization projections, department overhead
allocations, and staffing levels. Responsibilities included sales,
compliance, technology, pre-press operations, direct mail, data management,
and plant operations. Reported to the Chairman and supervised 7 direct
reports.
Increased annual sales 75% from $6.9 million to $12.1 million, increased
margins 17.5% from 57% to 67%, and reduced headcount 21% during tenure.
Converted an outdated estimating system to a new job costing and pricing
program that increased the accuracy of job costs, decreased sales force
discounting and preserved increased value added margins.
Attained ISO 9001 certification and achieved the highest customer
satisfaction rating ever recorded in a customer survey conducted by the
National Association of Printing Leadership.
Entered into a favorable partnership agreement with Tribune Direct, a
leader in the direct marketing industry. This partnership provided the
resources necessary to immediately accept high volume and high complexity
marketing projects.
Established Hederman Direct, a direct mail and digital printing division,
that increased volume by 15.2% and value added margins by 5.5% resulting in
record company volume and profits.
MASTER GRAPHICS, INC, MEMPHIS, TN
1997-2001
Chief Executive Officer
Hired as the Chief Operating Officer and subsequently promoted to Chief
Executive Officer for this consolidator of commercial printing companies.
Reported to the Chairman and supervised 18 Division Presidents, a Chief
Operating Officer, EVP of Sales & Marketing, Chief Financial Officer, VP of
Information Technology, and Director of HR.
Assembled a new management team and created the company's first
operating/financial plan focused on cost reduction, margin management, and
cash management.
Worked closely with the Chairman to acquire thirteen divisions, execute an
IPO, and complete a $130 million public debt placement. Grew revenue from
$95 million to $280 million in 2 years.
Established Master Central, a corporate brokerage unit that facilitated the
sharing of capabilities and capacity between divisions, increasing
corporate sales by $3 million, decreasing overtime by 15% and increasing
margins 300 basis points.
Introduced a common digital workflow that did not require replacing legacy
equipment and realized a 25% reduction in departmental staffing and a 30%
reduction in maintenance costs.
Discovered financial irregularities causing a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and
subsequent SEC investigation leading to multiple guilty verdicts against
former company executives. Led the organization through the Chapter 11
filing and reorganization.
HOLLIS DIGITAL IMAGING SYSTEMS, INC., Tucson, AZ
1994-1997 President
Provided overall leadership for this provider of pre-press services from
design to reproduction media and short run printing. Tasked with adding a
digital services revenue stream to this 100% film based company. Managed
the Vice President of Sales, Plant Manager, and Manager of Customer
Services.
Developed and marketed short-run digital color products including high
school sports cards, special event buttons, custom mouse pads, CD
packaging, postcards, greeting cards, and rental marketing kits resulting
in 100 new clients in the first year of product sales.
Researched, purchased and installed the first digital printing press in the
state of Arizona becoming the first company in Arizona to provide on-demand
printing and digital conversion services.
Installed a digital printing press in a Motorola facility as part of their
new proposal center. Motorola became the newest and largest client of
Hollis resulting in $600,000 in annual sales.
Marketed digital conversion technology to the legal, health care and
insurance industries resulting in an average of over a million documents a
month being digitized.
Hollis Digital was sold to Kelmscott Communications at a price equal to 18
times the equity holders original investment.
