1986-1991 Independent Lighting Design/Consultant: Owner/operator of
"Lighting Design Solutions by Tony Vera. (Irving Las Colinas) Developed a
design office (Hi-tech showroom & lighting lab design studio) for the
purpose of promoting and selling design/consulting, high quality lighting
products and automation systems to the high-end residential, light
commercial & retail markets. (13 Employees)
1982-1986 Cummins Supply Company: Lighting Director: Hired to design and
develop a commercial/industrial automated lighting laboratory and to
establish a design & consulting division with emphasis on promoting design
& energy management services. In addition, I was responsible for lighting
education, purchasing, conducting lighting seminars etc. The Lighting
Concepts Center was birthed out of this effort with much effectiveness and
success. Within 9 months of the "lab" opening we were able to quadruple our
lighting sales while increasing profit margins. I was awarded an
International Lighting Design Award by the Illuminating Engineering Society
of America for the design and development of the Lighting Lab.
I reported to President/Owner: Clay Cummins. (Cummins Supply has since been
sold to an English company).
1978-1982 Lightolier Lighting Company: (Now known as The Genlyte Group)
Manufacturer of high quality architectural lighting and control products
for the commercial, architectural, institutional and industrial projects.
My responsibility was to promote these Lightolier products via
demonstration, seminars and lighting design assistance to the Dallas/Fort
Worth Architectural and Design community.
I've also provided lighting design/consulting and marketing services for
Meletio Electric (Lighting Showroom). Responsibilities: To design and
develop a lighting lab, provide design and consulting assistance, marketing

to the lighting industry I was involved in the pharmaceutical industry in
sales, marketing and key account management (Warner Lambert)
Before the pharmaceutical industry I was in the United States Air Force. I
was awarded the Airman of the Month while active. I am an honorably
discharged veteran.
Education: High School and two years of college: USAFI (United States Air
Force Institute where I also studied for several years at the Air
University in the area of General and Career related courses).
I've also taken a course on "Advanced Lighting Design' at the University of
Colorado at Boulder, in concert with the University of Wisconsin's School
of Engineering. In addition I have attended lighting schools at GE's Nela
Park, Osram/Sylvania, the Genlyte/Lightolier, Cooper Industries, Acuity
Brands and Juno Lighting Labs. I have also service as Vice-President of the
IES/Dallas.
Awards:
I have been awarded local, regional, national & international lighting
design awards, including the Edwin F. Guth Design international award for
the design, development and the successful operation of a Lighting Lab.

Community & Church Activity:
I am an active (licensed) minister in two churches and also have a local
outreach ministry. Churches: Park Cities Baptist, Dallas, & Leading Way
Ministries also in Dallas, Texas. My church activity in the last 20 years
has involved: Prayer Council, Communion Servant, Prayer Rail Ministry,
Prayer Watchman, Men's Prayer Group, Hispanic Ministry, Missionary to the
Nations... and local outreaches.
I've also been a Chaplain/mentor/religious instructor for the Texas Youth
Commission in concert with the Dare to Dream Children's Foundation. I was
awarded the Chaplain of the Year in 2003 by TYC (Texas Youth Commission.
