Significant Professional Successes
Reduced Machine Down-Time: Recognized need to cut extended downtime and
lessen breaks on paper machine. Identified source of problem area
requiring improvement Conducted research on machine upgrades and led the
drive to implement a new component to alleviate production issues. Impact:
Machine upgrade component reduced breaks on the paper machine; estimated
savings on downtime was approximately $750K annually.
Safety Leader: Streamlined process for Incident Investigations. Developed a
customized program to fit the corporate environment, conducted all
appropriate training for plant team and monitored all incidents daily.
Impact: Increased safety awareness; successfully averted near misses from
potentially becoming future incidents.
Process Improvement: Developed a plan forward on slitting and packaging a
new type of product film. Recommended training sessions for operators with
the IT Department on how to use the Baan Computer System to better manage
production operations including scheduling, shipping/receiving and
warehouse tracking. Identified need to revamp system to accommodate new
product specs and implemented new equipment updates to produce this product
on the existing equipment. RESULT: More efficient operators, consistently
met customer deliverables, and maximized product profitability.
Reduced Waste: Investigated ways to divert a waste-product (Black Liquor)
from contaminating the process water system. This would cause premature
life of the capital paper machine equipment. This bi-product contributed to
extra downtime, reduced machine speeds and need to replace parts
prematurely. Identified a solution to divert this bi-product away from
process water system by utilizing our waste water treatment system. RESULT:
Sustained machine speeds, lessened downtime and increased equipment life.
