WORK EXPERIENCE
North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC
Information Technology Support (Part time) Sep
2008 - June 2009, August2009 - Present
. Configuring and managing 10 Cisco Pix 515E Firewall to use them as a
firewall for networking labs.
. Designing, planning and implementation of network (switches and
firewall) architecture for the Networking labs.
. Configuring and managing Virtual Machines on VMware ESX and improving
their network performance.
. System administration on Fedora 5 and Red Hat Linux installed on
Desktops and servers in the Networking labs.
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Ahmedabad, India
Project Trainee
Jan 2008 - May 2008
. Developed Half-duplex Serial Protocol for communications in a
Distributed Beam Array Controller. The protocol will be used in future
space missions for communications between the central controller and
various antenna controllers on the satellites. Developed and
integrated CRC Checksum within the module.
. Programming Language used was VHDL, with the testing of protocol on
XILINX Virtex FPGA.
PROJECTS (North Carolina State University)
. Kernel Programming 1: Designed, implemented and tested Priority based
scheduling and Linux 2.2 Epoch based scheduling on Xinu (small Unix)
kernel.
. Kernel Programming 2: Designed and developed Readers/Writers locks on
Xinu kernel. Also, implemented the locks in such a way that they
supported Priority Inheritance.
. Kernel Programming 3: Implemented and tested Buffer Cache on the Xinu
kernel to reduce disk I/O and improve the efficiency of the Xinu
system.
. Network (Socket) Programming: Developed a DNS client and server system
to resolve domain names to IP address. Program written on Linux with
the help of Sockets API.
. Wireless and Embedded Systems Programming: Lead a team of 4 to compare
the efficiency of Forward Error Correction v/s Automatic Request
Retransmit for Mica2 (embedded system)wireless sensor networks.
Modified the Radio Stack to include Forward Error Correction in it for
future use.
. Android Project: Developed an application using Java which alerts a
person when he is in close proximity of certain points of interest
like Cafeteria, Local Park, Library etc.
. Simulation Project: Simulated a token based access network in C to
find out the optimum values of service time, queue length, number of
queues while varying the exponential arrival times.
