Vice President Human Resources & Administration
Swift and Company was acquired in 2007 by international consumer packaged giant, JBS SA., headquartered in Sao
Paulo, Brazil. Reporting to President and CEO of JBS USA, providing leadership coaching, direction and critical
support to bridge cultural, historical and language differences; identifying and sourcing new executive team members;
and executing key organizational/operational changes company wide while assuming expanded accountabilities for
corporate communications & community relations, safety and security.
• Facilitated smooth process for transferring Brazilian executives through central oversight of immigration
documents, housing/community assimilation, language and culture training, compensation, and assignment of
US mentors to individuals and families relocating to US.
• Revised and implemented new management incentive plan reflecting new ownership philosophy, restructure
and realignment of organization, operational objectives, and FYE change for US and Australian operations.
• Executed 100 employee RIF at corporate office first week of new ownership; transitioned all outsourced
functions (Security, Housekeeping, Landscape/maintenance, and Cafeteria) in house resulting in lower
operating costs and retaining vendor’s best employees. Reduced fleet vehicles company wide by over 50% in 4
months.
• Enacted CEO’s aggressive vision to create and launch new 200+ tractor/trailer refrigerator and cattle hauling
trucking operation in Greeley, Colorado within just 12 months.
• Engaged cross functional sub committee to modify company 401K plan and communication strategy to reflect
reduced company match, longer vesting schedule, and new investment options.
• Coordinated initial business recovery efforts and $3m construction budget to repair damages to corporate
headquarters resulting from a direct hit by F3 tornado and temporarily suspending corporate operations.
• Supervised a monthly average of 30 35 administrative and employment related legal cases (EEO, OFCCP,
DOL, ADA, FMLA, etc.). Coordinated with inside and outside legal counsel, company action steps, formal
responses, and settlements.

Formerly a division of ConAgra Foods, Swift and Company was acquired in 2001 by HM Capital and Booth Creek in
a private equity transaction. Integral executive team member through 2 executive management and ownership
transitions providing leadership, direction and support to Corporate HR, Administration and Aviation;
Employee/Labor Relations, Compliance; Compensation, Payroll & Benefits; Corporate Recruiting/College Relations;
and Corporate Training & Development departments on behalf of this 21,000 employee, $9B, global leader in food
production. Additional accountabilities included $9 11M annual budget, strategic business planning, crisis
management, talent acquisition, career development/succession planning, compensation and benefit committees, and
public speaking.
• Deployed HR due diligence and transition activities for two large business unit divestures and two Change of
Control events; first company sale to private equity firm in 2002 and latest company sale in 2007.
• Formed benefits committee to oversee transition of group health and welfare benefit plans ($60m annual
spend) from ConAgra, 3rd party vendor support/selection, and new 401K plan design/investment options
($100m+) to replace salaried pension plan.
• Regularly secured approval of the Executive Committee, Compensation Committee, and Board of Directors
on executive/board compensation actions, option allocations, annual incentive plan design, restructuring and
realignments, payouts, strategic HR initiatives including 360 performance review process, executive
employment/retention agreements, and long term incentive plan (LTIP).
• Developed and delivered diversity programs and annual training for all 16,000 US employees. Developed on
going tracking and reporting process for senior management to highlight and target areas of under utilization.
• Aided strategic business positioning and planning activities through 3 severe crisis situations including largest
beef recall in US history; closing of international borders to all US beef industry products; co lead of defense
strategy and operational tactics to manage the largest multi site immigration investigation in US history.
• Entrusted to testify to Congressional sub committees on employer hiring and immigration policy as well as
meet with legislators on Capitol Hill regarding necessary changes to federal immigration policy.
• Directed HR planning, change management strategy and execution for two major restructurings and
realignments of management, sales, marketing, operations, customer service, procurement, and various
supporting departments for a major business unit with $5B in sales.
• Saved company ~$20M annually through reduction in US production employee turnover from over 100% in
2000 to new low of 38% in 2006.

Senior division HR generalist and corporate labor/employee relations director performing daily senior generalist,
labor relations, employee relations and share services support for large divisions in distribution, dairy, agricultural,
and chocolate/confectionary businesses with this global leader in consumer packaged foods. Additional
accountabilities included labor negotiations, college and professional recruiting, training/development, annual

relations function for labor contract negotiations, union avoidance programs, and positive employee relations.
