Test Development Engineer (8/08-12/09); Project Engineer (1/04-7/08); Quality Engineer (05/01-12/03);
Engineering Test Coordinator (10/94-04/01)
Select responsibilities and achievements:
Project Engineering:
• Led the full lifecycle development of airbag and steering wheel designs into new vehicle platforms
• Directed all aspects of high-volume programs including the design, manufacturing, cost, timing, customer
approvals/issues, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), pre and post production issues, and material cost
savings initiatives
• Improved the quality, reliability, and safety of products/processes by conducting FMEAs (Failure Mode and
Effects Analysis) and PFMEAs (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
• Prepared and presented formal design reviews to management, customers, and peers
• Managed engineering change requests, drawings, new business quotes, bill of materials, prototype builds, and
validation testing to meet customer requirements
• Supported program management to confirm all customer requirements were met or exceeded
• Collaborated successfully with all facets of the organization including manufacturing, purchasing, finance,
sales, and supplier quality
• Achieved recognition as the resident expert in steering wheel and driver airbag Noise/Vibration/Harshness
analysis
• Provided ongoing/onsite engineering support for new product/process launches, the airbag manufacturing
plant, and customer vehicle assembly plants
• Received Six Sigma Green Belt certification for eliminating a surface fit issue between the driver airbag and
steering wheel
• Awarded honorary recognition for becoming a leader in the Engineering Change Management Process
Test and R&D Engineering:
• Led the vehicle crash test laboratory as the frontal and side impact sled crash test engineer
• Analyzed customer full-scale vehicle crash data and developed test methods to replicate crashes in the
laboratory
• Utilized test methods to develop safety products which mitigated occupant injury
Scott Lambdin Resume (Pg 1)
• Developed expertise with data acquisition, instrumentation, high speed imaging, crash test dummies, SAE
and FMVSS government specifications, and impact test equipment
• Performed hands-on repair of test equipment including troubleshooting, analysis, preventative
maintenance, and continuous improvement
• Created and developed test plans to validate vehicle safety systems for compliance to Federal Motor
Vehicle Safety Standards
• Supervised test technicians and skilled trades – conducted interviews, performance reviews, and
scheduled daily testing
• Managed durability testing per ASTM standards – accelerated exposure, environmental conditioning,
material fatigue, and tension/compression
• Designed a test fixture to simulate out-of-position occupant airbag interaction saving Delphi $750,000 in
external test costs
• Developed Side Impact test method to evaluate occupant Head Injury Criteria and implemented side
impact airbag design which reduced Head Injury Criteria by 95%
Quality Engineering:
• Managed the test laboratory quality system which included 9 test areas, 21 test technicians, and 8 test
engineers
• Successfully transitioned the test laboratory from ISO Guide 25 to ISO 17025/16949
• Led and earned laboratory quality certification to ISO 17025/16949 through the American Association for
Laboratory Accreditation
• Conducted quality audits and resolved findings by implementing the ‘5-why’ problem-solving method to
identify and determine root causes
• Directed the implementation of corrective actions based on root cause identification to permanently
eliminate laboratory errors
• Improved laboratory quality and efficiency from 82% to 98% by applying lean manufacturing methods to
procedures and processes
• Wrote lab manual, test specifications, and step-by-step work procedures
• Led $1.3 million project acquisition of new high speed digital imagers used to capture crash tests
