Tarboro Plant Manager, August 2007 - April 2009

P&L responsibility for 184K square foot manufacturing facility with 334

plant personnel and 36 staff personnel. Responsible for establishing and

managing 85K square foot distribution center with high volume SKU's.

Average daily shipments of $300K and 10,000 components during peak season.

Manufacturing operations included shearing, bending, welding, assembly,

test, packaging, warehouse and e-coat paint system. AS 400 based IT system.

Selected Achievements & Contributions:

* Implemented cross funtional training program which improved on time

percentage from low 80% to +95%.

* Championed lean events which reduced direct labor as a percent of sales

by 1%. Savings of 800K.

* Balanced material flow between processes which led to one million dollar

WIP reduction.

* Instituted in process inspections and rewrote quality procedures which

led to 300K reduction in field returns.

* Engaged the work force in safety program which led to million man hours

without a lost time accident.

Focus Factory Manager, April 2004 - August 2007

Responsibility of start-up operations for boiler manufacturing in McBee

facility. Staff of 9 with management responsibilities for Quality,

Manufacturing, Materials and Engineering. Plant personnel totaled 62 with

manufacturing operations that included metal shearing, forming, welding,

brazing, assembly, packaging, test and powder coat operations.

Selected Achievements & Contributions:

* Reduced 600+ unit backlog to <50 within 3 months.

* Improved FPY from 86% to 99%.

* Implemented point of use inventory control system saving $80K in labor

and $300K in inventory.

. Product diversification in the thousands with BTU inputs ranging from

120,000 to 2.5 million.

. Manufacturing and inspection appropriate to UL, AGA,CGA and ASME

certifying agencies.

. Spent 3 weeks on two separate visits to China to review plant

expansion and assist with optimization of new powder coat paint

system.

* Institued line balancing throughout the assembly area which led to $240K

labor reduction.

* Led cross funtional teams which identified/addressed bottlenecks.

Achieved 20% improvement in commercail assembly and 10% in residential

. Managed 2 high volume residential water heater assembly operations and

1 commercial assembly operation. Also managed jacket fabrication and

paint areas.

. Product diversification immense with 6 gallon to 120 gallon

Managed Nanjing operation involving manufacture of instantaneous water

heaters for the domestic market.

* Closed joint venture partner manufacturing facility and started up new

facility on time and on budget.

* Identified layout of facility for optimum productivity and material flow.

. Assisted president in market introduction of residential storage water

heaters and commercial product.

. Worked with CTC on site location, layout, design and equipment

specifications for new 28 million dollar manufacturing facility.
