Attn, Human Resources Dept:
I am writing with respect for the position opening with Gannett for Business Sales Analyst. I respond, because it is my
sincere desire to bring to your company my corporate experiences, as well as to apply the knowledge received from my
graduate studies.
I have been pursuing my MBA at the University of Pittsburgh's Katz School of Business. I concluded my studies at
Slippery Rock University in May 2008; where, I maintained a 4.0/3.7 Q.P.A. in my two majors. I believe it is worth noting
that, not only have I maintained this level of academic success, I did so while living independently, and working full-time,
being my only source of income, as I pursued my goals and dreams. This experience has taught me volumes about using
my own energy in an efficient and conservative manner. .
My employment experience as an Accounting Support Specialist has given me the opportunity to assess and evaluate
system functions to maximize business output. The communications company for which I worked started as cable, yet
branches out to internet, phone, security systems and real estate. I helped maintained the JD Edwards Financial System
that wove them all together. This enabled me to apply my some of my graduate work in “Strategies and Environments”. I
feel that open and cross communication is very important between departments for any organization to run smoothly. I
also would provide my support across various business divisions held within the company. I was able to go from helping
develop a more streamlined fleet management system to giving advice in the inventory management division for the
security systems sector. I was also a part of the team that implemented a new banking procedure for the accounts
payable department effectively saving an estimated $400,000 in interest alone in the first year.
As a Corporate Trust Administrator at The Bank of New York Mellon’s global structured finance division I was responsible
to account for cash flows statements comprised of cash movements summing to approximately $15 million in income
receipts daily. I produced daily and monthly reports for clients with whom I’ve built relationships, in New York, Boston, and
also internationally.
One of the primary focuses with this position was also being able to establish and maintain relationships with these
clients, which I did successfully, gaining from them a strong level of trust. I also settled trades in foreign currency on a
daily basis, therefore entrusting in me to wire large sums of money to the appropriate parties. The focus and precision,
with which I handled my portfolios for some of the bank’s most high profile clients, is a skill that has been strongly
developed. This experience, in a high-stress, time-sensitive environment helped to build my pressure-based, critical and
analytical thinking.
However, my true passion is in analysis and forecasting and I couldn’t fathom joining a more intriguing company than
Gannett. I believe my years of corporate experience, as well as my graduate work in Strategy & Environments and my
high-spirited, personable client services ability blend to be the perfect mix for this multi-faceted position. I understand the
breadth in which this company operates and the impact it has upon our economy, as the global economy continues to
grow. To participate in this growth, as an employee of Gannett, would be most exciting.
Thank you for the time and effort you have taken to review my qualifications. Upon your review, I will make myself
available at your earliest convenience.
Respectfully Submitted
