I was hired by CH2M-Hill to design a small biotechnology facility in Canada. The design was

completed but not constructed.

Amgen Inc. (Formerly Immunex)

Corporate Mechanical Engineer

September 2000 through September 2007.

Developed new corporate design standards for laboratories, clean rooms, and vivariums.

Established the basis of design comply with new ISO 14644 standards in consort with Affiliated

Engineers Inc.

Amgen and AEI established the basis of design for a new research laboratory campus with total area

in excess of 800,000 SF. Design has achieved significant energy reduction for the campus.

The campus includes a central utility building, vivarium, and office support space. High efficiency

HVAC systems were incorporated into the project resulting in fan horsepower reduction by over 750

HP.

Utilizing pressure independent control valves results in significant energy savings.

The original chilled water design was based on a tertiary pump system. The pressure independent

control valves allowed us to eliminate the tertiary pump systems all together.
