EISC, Inc., Toledo, Ohio (1990 through 2007)
EISC, Inc. is one of Ohio’s seven not-for-profit Thomas Edison Centers. All are focused on
helping manufacturing companies with technical assistance including research, development and
feasibility.
2005-2007 Manager -Technology Transfer & Commercialization
Provided technology and commercialization assistance to many private sector companies
requesting assistance in electronic, and mechanical, feasibility prototyping with
commercialization considerations and new manufacturing equipment specifications. Assisted
researchers at Ohio State University and the University of Toledo to examine commercialization
opportunities both with the private sector and military markets. Also, provided technical business
assistance with the EISC, Manufacturing Technology Small Business Development Center,
MTSBDC and EISC’s Center for Innovative Food Technology, CIFT.
2000-2005 Manager - Product and Process Development
Manage a team of development laboratory specialists devoted to advanced prototyping and
instrumented testing in the areas of new product development and manufacturing process
improvement. Extensive use of CAD/CAM/CAE technologies were employed. Some of the
successes were:
Ÿ Several advanced machining tools
Ÿ Injection Molds
Ÿ FEA on product designs
Ÿ Several new machining fluids designed for markets in USA, Europe and China.
Ÿ Gun safety mechanisms
Ÿ New innovative packaging systems.
1997-2000 Product Line Manager for the Center of Manufacturing Excellence
This position had all the responsibilities of the position above but included an educational and
training activity. Assistance was given to train the trainer in a machining apprentice program that
was created for a fast-track approach. Product and process development activities were still in
place. Managed for all of Northwest Ohio, a National Excellence in Materials Joining initiative of
the Federal Governments Technology Re-Investment program conducted by the Navy Joining
Center at the Edison Welding Institute in Columbus. This three year program was so successful
that it was extended by the State of Ohio with extra funding just for Ohio companies.
1996-1997 Lake Erie MEP QS 9000 Auditor and Field Engineer
EISC participated in a new National Institute of Standards and Technology, NIST, developed
program named Manufacturing Extension Partnerships, MEP. This experience added quality and
audit training to my knowledge base.1 of 2

1991-1996 Director Of Geometry Shop
This program activity was approved by a large portion of the membership of EISC. The Geometry
Shop employed a total of fifteen staff at three locations reporting to the director. Toledo, Bowling
Green State University’s Center for Quality Measurement and Automation and Owens Technical
College CAD/CAM Training Center. Outreach to all Northwest Ohio’s businesses was conducted
to provide project assistance to utilize the emerging benefits of 3D designing and 3D CNC
manufacturing including robotics. Many companies were help in creating new products, and
winning new contracts.
Dana Corporation - Ottawa Lake Michigan- Center for Technology
Chief Engineer
Many new products continued to be developed and tested in the areas of automotive speed
controls, truck engine controls and electronic axle shifters, mechanical and hydrostatic automatic
transmission controls, power-take-off system controls, and truck bed onboard log weighing
systems. A novel hybrid 4x4 automotive small car electric/gasoline drive was developed and
installed in three cars and successfully tested. New responsibilities were added to assist
manufacturing with the latest technologies in cell manufacturing techniques, automation including
robotics and machine vision to produce vision guided robotic automatic assembly.

Senior Development Engineer
Many new products were developed and tested in the areas of automotive speed controls, truck
engine controls. Technologies employed were electronics, fluidics and hydrostatics

Advanced Development Engineer, and Supervisor of Motor Testing
Advanced Engineering activities centered about designing automotive automatic climate controls
and automotive capacitive discharge ignition systems.
