Implemented the U.S.'s first self service moving company as a business-
model employing the concept of self-service moving of personal property,
allowing the moving public access to unused "less than truckload" head-load
space. This transportation methodology utilizes the hauling capability and
rigorous point-to-point scheduling of a "less than truckload" freight
carrier while eliminating the high cost of an interstate mover or the
requirement for the moving public to drive a heavily loaded rental truck
from origin to destination thus decreasing costs by 50%. Full P&L
responsibility. Highly profitable.
General Services Manager, Arlington County Dept of Health and Human
Services 2001- 2002
Managed multiple county facilities, including a 9 story office building.
Responded to daily requirements of 1000 staff and visitors. Supervised
parking facilities, security guards, vehicle fleet, maintenance. Prepared
budgets, managed vendors. Chairman Safety and Security Committee.
President, Transport Management, Inc. 1992 - 1995
Created first US company to utilize intermodal rail to ship household
