Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, Global Specialty Division
Directly responsible for managing and reporting revenues stream, ensure profitability and
growth. Responsible for sales, business development and all operations for division. Additional
responsibilities include Compliance, Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Develop and
Maintain Key Relationships. Managed staff in North America, Responsible for divisional P&L,
established policies and procedures. Lines of business included Aviation, Marine, Kidnap and
Ransom, Fine Arts and Species, Employee Benefits.
Amalgamated Life Insurance Company (2003-2005)
Executive Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer/President of Alicare (TPA)
President of Third Party Administrator. Amalgamated is owned by UNITE HERE, a national
union, formally The International Ladies Garment Workers Union (Look for the union label).
Managed claims, service, sales, marketing, underwriting and actuary divisions. Managed
approximately 150 employees and an annual budget of over $15mm. Responsible for moving the
organization forward through leadership, sales, creativity and building strategic partnerships.
Managed relationship with reinsurance carriers, negotiated reinsurance treaties. Established
relationships with a multitude of PPO’s regionally and nationally to maximize revenue
opportunity. Successful in managing a sales force, establishing and meeting goals, creating plan
designs, as well as a strategic plan. Achieved a strong customer base and broker following.
Worked with nationwide unions and associations. Alicare’s client base had over 500,000 member
lives. Identified opportunity for an acquisition in ULLICO’s TPA business, and assumed a
$12mm in annual revenue.
