Industrial Ergonomics Group
Project - 4 members
Seated Sub-Assembly Workstation Design September
2008 - November 2008
. Gathered data and designed a workstation based on calculation of table
height, chair height, clearance, reach for assembly part bins, and monitor
level height for eye of the operator.
. Presentation and report of the above to doctoral students and professors.
Advanced Industrial Ergonomics Group
Project - 4 members
Standing Sub-Assembly Workstation Design
January 2008 - March 2008
. Designed the workstation based on calculation of table height, clearance,
reach for assembly part bins, height for process sheet, monitor level
height for eye.
. Presentation and documentation of the above to research audience.

Process Modeling using Simulation (in press)
Jan-Feb 2010
Technical report to Veterans Health Affairs
Authors: Pratik J.Parikh, Praveen Chawla, Rosalyn Scott and Kashyap Mehta
Use of simulation model in healthcare for improved care and services by
improving the capacity planning, scheduling and patient flow.
Lean Manufacturing for Engineers
Mixed Model Car Production System
June 2009
Use of TPS system for implementation of mixed model and customized car
production system. With the improved system, customized single flow car
production can cater to customer for their different demands, and improve
the sales for the car manufacturing plant.
Six Sigma for Engineers
January 2009
Creating a Lean Six Sigma Hospital Discharge Process
. Used Six Sigma tools to find out slow rate for discharge process and lean
manufacturing to reduce the non-value added time.
Utilization of Six Sigma in Thermal Power Plant
. Used Six Sigma tools to find out loss of De-Mineralized water in thermal
power plant, which further reduced company's De-Mineralized water
production cost.
Advanced Industrial Ergonomics
January 2008 - March 2008
Ergonomics in Motor sports
. Created motorsports vehicle design for reduction of G-Force, vibration,
pressure and display for the driver in motor sports vehicles.
. Collected data on safety measures and applied to final design.
Vibration Hand tools
. Researched and collected information on effect of vibration in hand tools
like chisels, hammers and screw drivers.
. Redesigned a chisel to reduce the vibration and increase the operational
ease for the user.
. Presented a case study on the prevention and reduction of vibration when
using a chisel.
Design of Seated Sewing Workstation
. Designed the workstation for reduction of physical pain, eye strain and
clearance for the operator.
. Presented a case study on safety and prevention measures for the
operator.
