Food and Beverage Production
Responsible for the overall environmental, health and safety program of the facility. Manage one
EHS supervisor and 12 hourly union associates in sanitation department. Champion of all
LEAN/5S/Waste Elimination initiatives in sanitation and receiving departments.
Centralized all record keeping and documentation for safety training, city regulations/permits
(SPCC, Waste Water, Utilities, PIPP, etc.), OSHA/MIOSHA regulations, and all SQF policies
and training into easy-to-use filing system. Trained plant Leadership Team on how to use system
during an audit. Resulted in an 11% increase in most recent audit score occurring in January and
enabled the plant to achieve audit score goal for first time in two years.
Created SSOP's for all sanitation jobs and tasks and created training matrix for sanitation
department employees to drive flexibility and improve utilization of work force. Resulted in
improved MSS compliance score from baseline of 81% to 94% in less than two months.
Trained all supervisors/managers at the plant in DuPont STOP audit program to drive improved
performance around safety. Audit information is now actively being utilized to show trending
and create a proactive approach to identifying safety risks and developing corrective actions
before an incident occurs. Currently rolling out phase 2 of the program in which engaged hourly
associates from all departments are being trained in STOP as well to gain buy-in at the floor
level. Since initiating program in November, the plant recordable rate has dropped by 3 points
and is trending favorably to achieve "Highly Accomplished" by end of fiscal year.
Developed Safety Committee consisting of salaried/hourly representatives from all departments
to improve communication of plant safety measures on a weekly basis. Huddle meetings are
used in all departments to alert all associates of upcoming safety events and milestones.
Responsible for management of all utilities to drive reduction in the usage of resources to attain
plant sustainability goal. Currently achieving 100% through the month of January with favorable
trending.
Conducted study on food waste removal at facility which led to installation of new food waste
compactor system in order to reduce compactor pulls by 1/2 annually. Presented proposal and
gained approval for capital for project to VP of Manufacturing for Fresh Bakery division.

Responsible for the day to day operations, quality, and safety of bread and bun departments.
Manage seven production supervisors with total of over 100 hourly union production employees.
Champion all LEAN/5S/Waste Elimination initiatives in production department.
Championed quick changeover team on bun line utilizing LEAN tools which resulted in
increased throughput and efficiencies by cutting average changeover minutes from 15 to 5.
Utilized team members to identify internal/external changeover steps and create standardized
changeover training to be used with all new employees and seasonal hires.
Created and initiated a "designated trainer" program for the production department in which the
best trainers were identified for each piece of equipment and utilized for all training purposes.
Resulted in cutting time needed to train a new employee by one week and was used as a best
practice throughout the Central Region of Fresh Bakery.
Developed a seasonal hire program to use during peak bun season by implementing training/flex
matrices and designated trainer program which cut direct labor cost by $35K compared to
previous year.
Trained all production employees on SQF practices and attained plant goal of Level 2
certification.
Implemented product scoring practices to improve quality to the consumer. All supervisors and
hourly production associates trained on product specs and scoring methods with increased
compliance to daily quality checks. Improved plant quality index from 86% to 98%. Bun line
led the region in quality scoring for FY09.
Implemented a cripple reuse program for damaged product to be ground and reclaimed in order
to reduce overuse. Trained all production employees on process, created OIF, and resulted in 1%
reduction in overuse on each line (bread and buns) for FY09.
Conducted problem solving event focused on level scheduling which identified opportunities to
combine days of availability on certain items to create longer runs and improve efficiencies.
Resulted in 3% increase in OEE for bread line and 5.5% increase for bun line for FY09.
Served as interim Plant and Maintenance Manager for period of 4 months.

Food and Beverage Production
Supervised a team of 30+ hourly unionized associates as well as provided coverage for off shift
maintenance supervision. Coach/mentor other production supervisors.
Championed a "package overfill" reduction project which resulted in a plant wide savings of
$200K in 2007-2008. Conducted data collection and statistical analysis across all packaging
lines in the plant to identify opportunities to reduce overfill. Worked with maintenance
department and bagger operators to develop action plan for tightening bagger weight controls for
sustained performance and trained all production supervisors in the plant on the new process.
Exceeded all efficiency and waste targets for shift each year.
Developed safety as a core value among peers and associates which resulted in recordable rates
below 1.0 each year.
