Controller
BasicGrey is a surface design company that designs, facilitates
manufacturing, and distributes products primarily for the craft and hobby
industry to retail stores worldwide with 30% of sales being made outside
the US. The company is among Utah's fastest growing companies as
recognized at the 'Utah 100' awards in 2008 and 2009.
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions performed by Staff Accountant;
oversee operational tasks completed by Distribution Manager and
Assembly Supervisor.
- Establish standard processes and controls for collection of accounting
information.
- Perform month close process, including preparation of financial
statements with supporting reconciliations, data analysis and revenue
and expense forecasts.
- Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory filings.
- Review inventory levels, project demand and place purchase orders.
- Create ad-hoc reports and customized data tools for use in all
departments. Including tools to evaluate product demand, inventory
aging and discounting, inventory costing, customer sales history, sales
rep commissions and designer royalties, warehouse cycle counts,
shipping priority, and targeted email blasts.
- Setup and maintain information technology. Oversee work of in-house
developer and contract programmers.
- Project Manager: layout floor plan and workflow of warehouse space;
meet order fulfillment requirements of mass channels (Michaels, Big
Lots); EDI and data uploads, new software development and
implementation; offsite trade show operations; development of company
policies and formal review process.

areas such as cash, A/R, prepaid expenses, inventory, fixed assets,
investments and revenue and expense accounts. Participated in both
