appropriate directory structure on a windows server, the load of
the transferred data into corresponding databases on the windows
server using the WebFocus Modify language.

Developer - July 2007 - November 2008
Team Lead of group of 5 consultants developing reports for Knights
of Columbus Implementation September, 2007 - June 2008
Report Developer. The data extraction component of these reports
was complex - data base was not well designed for reporting
purposes so that most reports required a number of joins - in some
instances between tables containing transactional data. These
extracts needed to be coded in SQL for performance reasons. Nearly
all reports were executed under ReportCaster with distribution to a
library.

Senior Consultant

Information Builders, Inc in San Jose, CA
Consultant satisfying the needs of clients of Information Builders,
Inc (IBI) through the development of WebFocus reporting
applications. My general technical experience with IBI is
summarized below.
1. Design of reporting databases - my primary experience in
database design was for a reporting database running in SQL Server
in the windows environment. The database design was "star schema"
with between 6 and 10 fact tables and between 30 and 50 dimension
tables.
2. Development of ETL (extract, transform, and load) procedures to
load reporting database from source data on a scheduled basis using
Information Builder's Data Migrator tool.
3. Development of reporting environment including reports and user
interface for execution of reports using IBI's tools for creating
reports and developing user interface - use of java script and HTML
for front ends on reports.
4. Development of complex reports - complexity was sometimes
introduced by the challenges of extracting data from multiple
tables using joins or other techniques of merging data. For other
reports, the complexity was introduced by a format not easily
generated by the report writer. Experience with drill down and use
of CSS for styling of reports. Experience with IBI's Financial
Reporting Language.
4. Development of online maintenance applications using IBI's
Maintain language
5. Distribution of reports using IBI's ReportCaster product.
6. Training in WebFocus Architecture and Security
7. Project management - Information Builders methodology
8. Use of IWAY - for creating metadata, setup of adapters for MS
SQL, testing procedures, debugging execution problems by examining
configuration settings
9. Developed and taught Dashboard class for West Coast consultants.
10. Additional Skills: Experience with Developers' Studio and MRE
since their initial release 12-13 years ago.
The implementation of web based financial reporting for The
Department of Health Services at the State of California allowed
the elimination of the distribution of most paper reports and
provided access to current data as of the prior day's end of
business. The availability of the data online, in hardcopy, and
via excel led to a change in the culture of the Accounting
Department - time previously devoted to the acquisition of data
could now be committed to analysis.
Clients included State of California ( Department of Health
Services, Department of Conservation), US Navy - Strategic Weapons
Facility Pacific, Transamerica, Vision Service Plan, Blue Shield of
California, Chevron Chemicals, The Gap, Freightliner, Levi Strauss
& Co, and Packard Bell.
Specific skills used include MVS, VM, UNIX, DOS, Windows, REXX,
JCL, Microsoft Office, HTML, Java Script, MS SQL, Oracle, Data
Modelling,
