Detroit Diesel - Daimler AG
11/06 to 05/09
Product Buyer, Aftermarket Components.
Responsible for small volume purchases of over $ 90
Million. Commodities included Turbos and
Compressors, Rotational parts, Water and Oil Pumps,
Small / Medium Aluminum and Iron Castings and
forgings.
Realized many cost savings initiatives on various
castings and service parts by creating a cross
functional team to assess and re-release these
parts using lower cost raw materials, or amending
some coating/painting specifications on the
drawings. As these parts were service only, and
very small volume, these innovative and creative
solutions were the only alternatives to lower
costs.
Successfully managed a campaign on failing
manifolds on S50 engines already installed on buses
across the country. This was accomplished through
working with Engineering to find a source for the
designed creative fix. This was a shield to wrap
the manifolds in which prevents overheating; and
enabled the warranty department to save the
hundreds of thousands of dollars it would cost to
replace all manifolds. Of course, it also assisted
in preserving the organization's reputation and
avoiding litigation actions.
Also took over another production buying deck above
and beyond my own for over seven months, which
afforded me some experience on production series
purchasing of dampers and other rotational engine
parts. I was able to successfully manage both
offices until Management hired a new production
buyer, whom I trained and mentored.
