professional experience
S/D Engineers / Siemens, Pittsburgh, pa
June 2006 - November 2009
Designer /Drafter
Lead detailer /designer utilizing Microstation XM to create, cut, and
produce detailed annotated drawings by accessing the 3D models of the coal-
fired power plant's process piping systems.
Lead detailer /designer utilizing Microstation V8 to create, design,
detail, layouts, and verify Ortho's, Sectionals, and Elevations.
Responsible for creating detailed drawings for all the coal-fired power
plant's pipe systems runs. Responsible for designing, detailing, and
verifying pipe supports for fabrication. Also responsible for checking pipe
support submittals from vendors for verification.
Lead detailer / designer utilizing Autocad 8 to produce complete isometric
piping systems drawings so that 3D models could be produced to verify and
check all piping systems for steel mills and coal fired power plants.
Lead detailer / designer utilizing Autocad 8 to do hydraulic runs, bio-
diesel fuel plant layout, steel plant equipment and facility layouts, and
the U.S. Postal Services distribution centers including there distribution
equipment layouts and all the conveyor runs needed.
Eaton / Cutler-Hammer, Pittsburgh, PA
September 1995 - December 2003
Designer /Drafter
Lead designer for the prototype concepts and layouts of the new arc-
resistant switchgear equipment for 5/15kV, 27kV and 38kV. Also
participated on the team that performed the actual arc testing at KEMA labs
in Chalfont, PA, which successfully approved the equipment for both UL and
CSA certification, and released the product to the market for sale.
Lead designer for the prototype concepts and layouts of the new arc duct.
This is a secured enclosure placed on top of switchgear cabinets to
properly vent and disperse potential hazardous gases and particles,
preventing them from being released into the air during an arcing of the
equipment (can be applied at 15kV, 27kV and 38kV). Successfully tested and
certified at 15kV.
Created 3D models for detailing and prototyping of conceptual, new, and
modified designs on assemblies and their layouts for manufacturing.
Created 3D models and layouts applying both value engineering and lean
engineering principles. New product research, design and development.
Generated parts list and bill of materials and entered them into the
corporate database. Generated models for low voltage busway runs and their
various voltage configurations. Generated models for new load centers and
their various configurations.
National Carbide Die, McKeesport, PA May 1993 - August 1995
Designer /Drafter
Utilized AutoCAD to create layouts, details, and designs of various types
of tooling and presses for the production of parts for customers such as
Black & Decker, Buck Knives, Craftsman and General Motors.
Steel Service Engineering International, Bridgeville, PA June 1992
- April 1993
Designer /Drafter
Utilized AutoCAD to design and redesign the fabrication and installation of
regenerative ceramic burner systems related to the steel, aluminum and
glass industries.
Eichleay Engineering Inc., Pittsburgh, PA
September 1990 - May 1992
Drafter
Utilized Intergraph to prepare drawings for piping and the mechanical
areas.
Completed design, layout and "as-built" drawings from field information,
developing sectional and orthographic views.
Responsible for spool fabrication, piping drawings, flow diagrams and
electrical schematics.
St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corp., MASSENA, NY May
1988 - September 1990
Drafter
Utilized AutoCAD to prepare drawings for major structural lock repairs and
modifications, roads, buildings, landscaping, navigational aid structures,
and in general all works which are civil, electrical and mechanical in
nature. Also educated in surveying and concrete inspection to help manage
on-going projects being done by contractors.

Patents
United States Patent: Automatically operating interlock assembly requiring
an electrical cabinet to be closed before connection of the equipment
therein.
United States Patent Application: Apparatus for securing a door of an arc-
resistant switchgear cabinet.
United States Patent Submissions: Secured enclosure placed on top of the
switchgear cabinets to properly vent and disperse potential hazardous gases
and particles, preventing them from being released into the air during an
arcing of the equipment 15kv, 27kv and 38kv.
Awards received
Innovation And Quality Award: 2-high arc resistant medium voltage
switchgear design Recognizing employees' innovative ideas, solutions and
significant achievements that contribute to the success of Eaton.
Technology & Quality Center Employee Quality Appreciation Program: The MVS
Arc team was challenged to keep two KEMA testing facilities cells running
in parallel. The team had to run a total of 12 tests on the new concept
5/15kv Arc Duct placed on of arc resistant switchgear to see if it would
ventilate and contain possible hazardous gasses and particles. The tests
was a complete success.
Technology & Quality Center Employee Quality Appreciation Program: Extra
effort awarded for the individual effort conducted to put together the
Emergency Response Team and CPR and AED certification program.
