Joining the U.S Army at the age of 17, I had my parent’s approval by giving their signatures for
me to serve my country before the age of 18. The Guard/Reserves of the United States Army
allow High school students at the end of their junior year the option of starting their service early
by completing Basic Training during their school’s summer break and then the person is to report
back for additional training after High school graduation. I turned 18 during Basic Training
graduating from Ft. Knox during the summer before my senior year and graduation from High
school. My M.O.S. started out as a 63Juliet which is a Chemical Weapons Specialist. I decided to
transfer units from Terre Haute, IN to an Infantry unit in Linton, IN obtaining the M.O.S. of
11Bravo. My Military service was one of the best experiences of my life and I am honored and
proud to have served my county.
