SUMMARY
A talented and well-organized mechanical engineer with extensive
experience in the design and development of electro-mechanical products
and components. Has strong analytical, communicative, and writing skills
with a definite eye for detail. Capable of supporting a project from
concept to production and taking the necessary steps to meet or exceed
deadlines.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
PHILIPS MEDICAL SYSTEMS, Cleveland, Ohio 10/07 - 12/08
Mechanical R&D Engineer (Contract position - Advancement, LLC)
Provided engineering and technical support for the design,
procurement, assembly, and testing of a next-generation CT Scanner.
Modeled and detailed hardware as required for three prototype units and
generated weight and stress comparisons based on current production
scanners. Also assisted with product structure and Bill of Material
generation based on managerial and manufacturing input - eventually
becoming a "point of contact" for related enquiries. Primary CAD tool
used was I-DEAS with some Autocad for cable drawings. Production software
used was SAP.
. Coordinator for gantry FEA performed by a Philips Healthcare division
in Bangalore, India.
. Designed flow shields as part of the scanner's forced-air cooling
system.
. Performed all cable drawing updates as required for the gantry unit.
GE ENERGY, Twinsburg, Ohio 8/06 - 7/07
Product Support Engineer (Contract position - Adecco)
Provided general technical and drafting support for product
improvement, redesign, and restructuring of radiation detectors used in
the oil and gas drilling industry - as requested by Manufacturing,
Purchasing, or the customer. Periodically served as technical advisor in
discussions of design issues and group brainstorming sessions. Primary
engineering CAD tool used was SolidWorks along with Autocad as a
secondary. Also used were Oracle, e-Matrix, and SAP.
. Redesigned a shock-isolated gamma sensor for faster serviceability.
. Project coordinator for outsourcing legacy drawings for conversion to
SolidWorks.
INTELLIGENT TANNING SYSTEMS, Chardon, Ohio 3/06 - 6/06
Product Development Engineer (Independent Contractor)
Main project was to redesign, assemble and test a new cosmetic therapy
recliner based on an original prototype to reduce cost, enhance safety,
and improve aesthetic appearance. The product used red LED arrays as a
skin conditioner, based on NASA technology. SolidWorks was used for
modeling sheet- metal panels, acrylic and fiberglass covers, and any
purchased parts used. Added a liquid cooling system to remove any heat
buildup from the LED panels and designed the recliner's shipping
container.

PHILIPS MEDICAL SYSTEMS, Cleveland, Ohio 6/02 - 12/05
Current Product Engineer (Contract position - CPI)
Supported manufacturing problem efforts, product restructuring,
general design improvements, and updated documents as assigned by the
program management team. All changes required justification with data
sufficient enough to support an FDA audit. Engineering CAD tools used
were ProEngineer, SolidWorks and Autocad. Interfaced closely with
suppliers, Manufacturing, and Purchasing departments.
. Eliminated the hazardous material of a part while at the same time
reducing its cost by 80%.
. Tested and released new heart monitor as replacement for original made
obsolete by supplier.
. Earned status of team overseer/reviewer for technical writing and word
formulation.
STANLEY AIR TOOLS, Cleveland, Ohio 8/92 - 10/01
Product Development Engineer
Hands-on design and development of pneumatic and electric assembly
tools and their components - creating unique cost- and space-efficient
parts and assemblies to obtain the specified requirements. Performed any
analysis and testing necessary to support a given design. Gained
proficiency in the use of 3D modeling programs, EXCEL, MS-WORD, Adobe
Writer, and PowerPoint software.
. Co-winner of innovation award for a new clutch-operated tool product
line, boosting sales by 30%.
. Awarded patent for the hydraulic pulsing mechanism used in a pistol-style
impulse nutsetter.
. Completed a team project from concept to production in six months -
earning letter of recognition.
WESTINGHOUSE NAVAL SYSTEMS DIVISION, Euclid, Ohio 12/78 - 6/92
Mechanical R & D Engineer
Directed the design and development of the various components,
assemblies, and subsystems used in naval defense products - test fixtures
included. Performed the analyses, reviewed layouts and drawings and
presented design reviews to the customer. Attained a security clearance
level of SECRET.
