Reduced raw material costs over $2.0 million including steel, steel
tubing, packaging materials, and other shop expense items.
Sales grew 10%, efficiencies improved, and indirect costs dropped as lean
principals were introduced. This included cellular manufacturing, kan
bans, Value Stream Mapping, and 5S.
Finished goods inventory declined 40% (while on time delivery was
improving), WIP by 75%, and raw materials by 43% as the plant moved
towards a "pull" versus a "push" scheduling.

Reduced steel inventories by $750,000 and increased turns from 5-6 to
50-70 on key items by working with vendors, improving ordering methods,
and implementing kan bans.
Increased productivity 3-fold, on-time delivery increased from low 60% to
mid-90%, planned & implemented plant expansions, reduced burden costs by
53% in indirect areas, gained substantial Gross Margin improvement on 25%
less volume.
Worked with sales to successfully develop new markets and products
including re-entering segments which had been determined unprofitable
previously.
