Resume Highlights
* Through my thesis Aural Perception in Music, I developed a method of
preparing theory and musicianship students to pass the entrance audition
for a music program. I have done this at Duquesne University, from 1998 to
the present. I would estimate that hundreds of students have passed into
the program under my tutelage.
*My Doctoral research and subsequent dissertation for my PhD was on Stephen
Collins Foster melodies arranged for guitar for elementary and secondary
schools. I completed this through an internship at the Stephen Foster
Memorial on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.
*Over a seven-year teaching period at the Community College of Allegheny
County I increased the enrollment dramatically in the music department.
Many of these students graduated from the Community College (two-year
school) and subsequently transferred into and graduated from music programs
in four-year schools.
*I was nominated for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in composition for my
composition "Sonata for Piano".
*I was co-contributor for a textbook "An Understanding and Enjoyment of
Music", published by Kendall Hunt with enclosed CD.
*I developed and successfully implemented an Enjoyment of Music course on-
line for the School of Leadership at Duquesne University.
*I am currently working on a critical analysis of the nine symphonies of
Beethoven for submission to the National Endowment for the Humanities
*I have created a new theory of poly-metrics for submission to the summer
National Endowment for the Humanities.
* Compose from 24-track digital studio in home for projects in the music
industry.
